Objectives : By the end of the lesson, sts will be able to: - Use cleft sentences in the passive correctly and appropriately when they want to focus on subject, object or some part of the sentence. 2. Teaching aids: - blackboard, chalk, handouts - textbook, lesson plan B. Procedures Teacher’s activities Time Students’ activities I. Organization - T checks the number of students and asks Ss to make some class arrangement.. 1 min. II. Checking the old lesson - T calls on one student to go to the board and asks some questions about him/her. - T gives comments and marks. III. New lesson 1. Grammar : Cleft sentences in the passive - T revises the cleft sentences and then presents the cleft sentences in the passive. Eg: The boy hit the dog in the garden. => It was the dog that was hit in the garden. 2. Exercises: give sts some handouts and get them to do. 1. Long gave Minh a lot of flowers. 2. People talked a lot about his house. 3. His father bought him a bicycle for his birthday. 4. She frightened the children. 5. Her younger sister broke her glasses. ................................................. IV. Consolidation - T summarizes the main points of the lesson by asking the questions. V. Homework - T asks sts to do the extra exercises in the workbook.. 4 mins - answer the T’s questions.. Lop11.com. - The monitor reports the number of students in his/her class to the teacher.. - listen 7 mins - take note. 30 mins - do the exercise. 2 mins 1 min. - talk about it and listen carefully. - take note.
