UNIT 4: LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (Getting started + Listen and read) I/ Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, S will be able to discuss and share the ways to learn English better; seek information for learning a foreign language. - Language contents:  Vocabulary: examiner, aspect, written/ oral examination, ...  Grammar: modal if; direct and reported speech (statements and questions) II/ Teaching aids: - Teacher: A poster with questions / p.33; Extra cues. - Students: prepare vocab. III/ Procedure: Teacher’s & students’ activities Content 1/ Warm-up: * Brainstorming: I. GETTING STARTED: - T give the topic: HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH BETTER and divide the class into 2 groups: each group has 3 students. Students have to write the ways they learn English. The winner is the group that can write more and exactly, closely. - T correct their mistake and congratulate the winner. - T show 10 ways of learning English (page 32) - Ss see and draw out their own ways then he/she tells again (They can give more Answer: than 10 elicited ways ).

If yes , What did teacher ask you ? - Now look at the Listen and read and introduce “Lan is talking to Paola about the oral examination she has had“ * Pre-teach vocabulary: - Checking technique: What and where. 3/ Practice: - Ask Ss to listen to the tape and find out the questions which the examiner asked in the conversation . - Repeat the reported speech . - Ask Ss to work in pairs to practice the dialogue . - Call on some pairs to read the dialogue again . Correct pronunciation . - Have Ss read the conservation again and see what exactly the examiner asked Lan - Look at the list of questions and check the boxes . - Call on Ss to read the correct answers aloud . - Correct and give the answers : - T ask Ss to read again the dialogue and.
