is the oldest form of Vietnamese opera, has
existed since the 11

century in the Red River
Delta, has its roots in ancient village festivals

consists of folk songs, instrumental music
and dances

Three main characters in Cheo are a hero, a
heroine and a clown. The clown present a
comic portrayal of social life with ridiculous,
satirical words and gestures.
