WEEK 4: REPORTED SPEECH.
I. Lý thuyết :
1, Câu gián tiếp chỉ lời khuyên:
* Trực tiếp : S + should / ought to + Vinf S + said ( to sb.)
Eg: You should stay in bed for a few days The doctor said.
* Gián tiếp : S ( ngoài ngoặc ) + said + S ( trong ngoặc đã biến đổi ) + should +
Vinf.
The doctor said I should stay in bed for a few days.
2, Câu gián tiếp chỉ mệnh lệnh, yêu cầu :
* Trực tiếp : Vinf.............................! S + said ( to sb ).
Dont + Vinf................! S + said ( to sb ).
Can/ Could you + Vinf .............., please ? S + said/ told.....
Eg: Open the door please ! The teacher said to the student.
*Gián tiếp : S (ngời yêu cầu) + asked/ told + O ( ngời dc yêu cầu ) +- to + Vinf
: \ not to Vinf
The teacher asked the student to open the door.
3, Câu trần thuật gián tiếp :
* Trực tiếp : S + V .................... S + said ( to sb )
Eg: I am a doctor He said.
* Gián tiếp : S ( ngoài ngoặc ) + said ( that ) + S ( tr.g ngoăc đã biến đổi ) + V ( lùi
thì ) .
He said that he was a dotor.
4, Câu nghi vấn gián tiếp :
* Trực tiếp : BE/ DO/ DOES/ DID............................? S + said ( to sb ).
Eg: Do you like this book ? Hoa said to Mary.
*Gián tiếp : S ( ngoài ngoặc ) + asked ( sb ) + if/ Whether + S ( tr. ng biến đổi ) +
V( lùi thì )
Hoa asked Mary if she liked that book.
. NOTE : Khi đổi từ trực tiếp sang gián tiếp ta phải chuyển đổi :
this > that V luì thì
these > those HT > QK
here > there TL > TL trong QK :
WOULD
now > then CAN > COULD
today > that day MAY > MIGHT
yesterday > the previous day SHOULD > SHOULD
tomorrow > the following day MUST > HAD TO
next > the next. HTHT > QKD/ QKHT
