A. CÁC QUY TẮC TRỌNG ÂM CƠ BẢN ĐỐI VỚI TỪ CÓ 2, 3 ÂM TIẾT
1. Đa số danh từ, tính từ 2 âm tiết trọng âm nhấn vào âm tiết thứ 1.

1. Các từ có các HẬU TỐ sau có trọng âm thường nhấn vào âm tiết ngay trước các
đuôi này
- TION: ìnformation, communication
- SION/ CION: supervision (Ngoại lệ: 'television)
- IC (s): mathematics, economics
- ITY: ability, variety, possibility - OMY: economy, astronomy
- (I)AL: financial, artificial, material, eternal - OGY: biology, technology,
sociology, apology
- ORY: satisfactory (Ngoại lệ: vo'cabulary, la'boratory)
- IAN : librarian, canadian, politician
- APHY: photography, geography - ACY: democracy, diplomacy
- (I)UM: aquarium, auditorium (Ngoại lệ: cir'riculum)
2. Các từ có 4 âm tiết kết thúc là: IENT, IENCE, ENCY, ANT, ANCE thì trọng âm
rơi vào âm tiết thứ 2

3. Các từ tận cùng bằng các đuôi : ADE, EE, ESE, EER, ETTE, OO, OON,
ESQUE thì trọng âm rơi vào chính các đuôi này.
