In fact, there is no success that not guidance to the direct or indirect support and
help from others. The eight-week internship at An Giang Radio and Television
Station (ATV) is one of the compulsory conditions for me to participate in the
final graduation exam and defend my thesis. I received enthusiastic support and
guidance to help me overcome all difficulties and ended the hard but meaningful
internship.
Firstly, I would like to thank the administrators of An Giang University and all
English teachers in the Faculty of Foreign Languages of An Giang University for
creating favorable conditions for me to practice at An Giang Radio and
Television station before my graduation. It gave me the opportunity what I have
learned at school to real practice to gain experience and prepare well for the
future.
Secondly, I would like to thank Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Guong – my respectable
teacher who offered me valuable assistance, support, and guidance during my
internship.

INTRODUCTION
The internship report is a product that students must do when completing their

study program. It is an indispensable part for final year students because it has
many benefits. The internship help students many training opportunities from the
knowledge learned in the university as well as exposed to the work environment.
Moreover, it helps students gain more experience, explore a career path, give
students an edge in the job market to develop and refine skills, build a network
with professionals in the field and gain confidence.
I decided to practice at An Giang Radio-Television Station because of some
reasons. Firstly, I want to experience the job of translating. Secondly, I hope I can
learn from ATV translation experiences. Thirdly, I think there are many
translators here. I will learn many skills from them. Therefore, it is the best place
for my internship.
The internship report will show the results of my internship for eight weeks on
the radio. It will be what I learned practiced during my practical work, how I
applied knowledge learned into the work in the future.

AIMS OF THE REPORT
This report will show about my internship for 8 weeks at An Giang RadioTelevision Station. It will present what I have done as well as my experience with
the job during the internship. My report will include four main contents.
Firstly, it presents general information of practical workplace. It is a place where
I have been trained many skills. It has a good and comfortable working
environment.

Secondly, the report will describe the activities, disadvantages and advantages of
my internship, giving me more solutions as well as lessons that I can learn. I
mention about what I have done and benefits along with difficulties I meet during
my internship time as a trainee of ATV.
Thirdly, I will express my feelings about the translation skills that I have
developed and learned here through listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Lastly, it performs suggestions for An Giang Radio-Television Station and An
Giang University. I think that this report will be useful for AGU, FLE, especially
English major students when they choose a place to do internship.

2. ATV’s Activities:
To meet the domand of locals as well as other provincial viewes, ATV has been
developing its capacity, from some hours broadcasting in the past to twenty four
hours with a lot of program such as Music show, Newn, and films like nowadays
Besides that, it also cooperates with other Southem television station to create
innovative programs and competitions for the region.

Agency history:

The forerunner of An Giang Radio-Television is the Radio Station, which began
broadcasting in 1977.Though 35 years of development; the Station has 35 years
of radio and television work including 14 years of TV work (1998) with the

broadcasting time from hours per day. Now this is up to 13 hours radio
broadcasting and 24 hours television broadcasting per day.
Station now has 170 staff and employees in which more than 2/3 have college,
university and higher education with 11 High-ranking cadre and political
bachelor, and over 80 comrades have intermediate level.
Over 35 years of operation, the station has awarded:

III.

News Translation team:

In the past, The Team members started very early in the morning at 1:30 to
translate newsletters which will be broadcasted at 6:15. In the morning, it would
start at 8 o’clock to make newscasts for broadcasting at 1:30 p.m, including the
newscast length with 5 minutes, the station broadcasted 3 minutes sport news in
the morning and 5 minutes sport news in the afternoon. In addition, it will stop at
6:25 p.m.
However, these days, the Team just does two programmers of world news per
day. One broadcast at 10 pm and the other is at weekends.
The station will broadcast newsletters without reiterating old newscasts.

If these newscasts have something new, the station will repeat the newscast with
the updated information.

The Station will choose at least two newscasts to broadcast on the newsletters
every day.
The newscast arranged in order of the close relationship of the Department of
Foreign Affairs.

CHAPTER 2: DESCRTIPTION
I.

The process of works at An Giang Radio-Television Station
1. The first and second weeks

Our instructor sent us 15 videos to translate from English to Vietnamese in 5
weeks, 3 videos per week. When we received the exercise, we divided into 2
small groups to do it.
Firstly, our team downloaded the video to listen for two times to understand the
main idea, then we listened to it and took note of the difficult words, after we

noted the difficult words, we divided each person into a section. However, I
could not hear much. I felt very disappointed but I never gave up. I continued to
listen and take notes many times, with my own effort to complete the first step.
Secondly, I translated roughly into Vietnamese; I used the dictionary to look up
some words that I do not know, of course, I would have a hard time choosing the
right words to translate.
In the end, my team and I met to discuss and complete the homework
completely. During the time we worked together, we developed the ability to
work in groups. Sometimes we are very tired and frustrated, but with great effort,
we have done it as best we can. Then we translate it together and send to Miss
Ngoc the best translation of the video.
After the first translation was over, my supervisor and I met after each week 2.
She gave comments and pointed out mistakes that we needed to fix in order to
improve the translation. Those are useful tips for us during our internship here.
After each translation is finished, we assigned to the videos in the next
translation. Of course, each video will have increasing difficulty.

ADB TO SUPPORT ASIA-PACIFIC VACCINATIONS
The Asian Development Bank will offer financial help to developing
nations as they look to vaccinate their people against COVID. ADB president
Asakawa Masatsugu said: “System for vaccine transportation and management

needs huge investment”. He said support will come through a 9-billion-dollar
vaccine initiative, the bank launched late last year. Meanwhile, the ADB says it
has offered nearly 10 billion dollars in emergency financial aid by December to
countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines where the virus continues to
spread. Recipients also included Thailand and the Maldives where the pandemic
has hit tourism hard. Asakawa says the ADB will come up with new measures if
that’s necessary to encourage the stable economic growth in the region.
Ngân Hàng Phát Triển Châu Á (ADB) sẽ hỗ trợ tài chính cho các nước
đang phát triển để thực hiện chương trình tiêm vaccine phòng dịch Covid-19.
Chủ tịch ADB Asakawa Masatsugu cho biết, cần một khoản đầu tư lớn cho các
hệ thống vận chuyển và quản lý vắc-xin. Ông Asakawa Masatsugu cho biết thêm
việc hỗ trợ vaccine sẽ thơng qua chương trình trị giá 9 tỷ đô la được ngân hàng
công bố vào năm ngối. Cùng lúc đó, ngân hàng ADB thơng báo họ đã cung cấp
10 tỷ đơ la viện trợ tài chính khẩn cấp đến tháng 12 cho In-đơ-nê-si-a và Phi-líppin, nơi mà vi-rút vẫn đang tiếp tục lây lan. Các nước bao gồm Thái Lan và Manđi-vơ, nơi ngành du lịch bị ảnh hưởng nặng nề bởi đại dịch cũng hưởng được gói
hỗ trợ này. Theo ơng Asakawa ADB sẽ đưa ra các biện pháp mới nếu cần thiết để
khuyến khích tăng trưởng kinh tế bền vững tại khu vực.
In the first translation, we received a response from her. She sent us blue text to
correct the article for us. In yellow so we noticed how capitalization and spelling
errors and words need to be written. Her feedback was very helpful. Moreover, I
learned some new words. I feel my translation skills improve over two weeks, I
have learned more words as well as knowledge in different fields.

2. The third and fourth weeks
In two weeks, my task was with translating from Vietnamese to English. When I
receive the assignment, I will do it individually first then meet to discuss and
complete the exercise. In the end, I send it to my instructor. Because I learned
some experience from the first two weeks that I had practicing. I found that my
homework easily completed in some ways.
I translated from Vietnamese to English and English to Vietnamese. That is why
it helps me a lot in improving my translation skills. Next, I prepared a 5-minute
lecture to present with Ms. Ngoc in the next meeting. I talked about my best
friend to her. In the end, she made a few comments, she said that my phonetics
and speaking skills are not that good and I need practice to improve even more.
Although, I was a bit disappointed about myself, but with her comment I
promised to try to learn my knowledge and improve my speaking skills.
The feedback of the translation from Mss. Ngoc showed below (the red words
that I corrected and should note)
1. Khả năng thưởng thức cái đẹp đến từ lịng cảm kích. Khi bạn rộng mở
tấm lịng chấp nhận những điều kì diệu của cuộc sống (ngay cả khi điều tốt và
xấu đều xảy ra), lòng biết ơn sẽ chỉ cho bạn vẻ đẹp, hay thậm chí bạn có thể tạo
ra nó. Sáng tạo chính là một cách để nói lời “cảm ơn” với những gì ta có trong
cuộc sống.
A sense of beauty comes from a place of appreciation. When you are
open to the wonder of life (in both the good and the bad things that happen), you
can draw on gratitude to recognize beauty and even create it yourself. Being
creative is a way of saying “thanks” for all you have in life.

2. Nói câu “cảm ơn" là một thói quen lịch sự mà hầu hết mọi người học
được từ rất sớm, nhưng thật sự truyền lòng biết ơn của mình đến người khác cần
nhiều ý chí và nỗ lực hơn. Bạn có thể thể hiện những gì mình cảm nhận khơng?
Hãy dành thời gian để nghĩ về những hành động thể hiện lời cảm ơn của mình chúng sẽ được ghi nhận và cảm kích.


Saying “thank you” is a polite habit most people acquire at an early

age, but really conveying your gratitude to someone requires more thought and
effort. Can you show how you feel? Take the time to think of acts that
communicate your thanks- they will be remembered and appreciated.

3. Four last weeks:
In weeks 5-6, I received five English videos, similar to the videos from the first
weeks. Although I have been practicing for 4 weeks and had some experience, I
struggled quite a bit because the video was long and hard, I could not hear it
exactly, I had to listen to it many times and had to encourage each other to try
together. Finally, I got it done perfectly.
I had a meeting in week 6. The supervisor would comment on my translation and
answer questions during our listening process. In the end, she took me to tour the
ATV’ studios as well as see how she actually works. I feel very excited and like
the work environment here.

After giving a few comments on my translation, she assigned the task for week 7
with 3 English videos and a personal recording file. I could not hear well. I tried
to listen so many times, recorded difficult words and started to hear each sentence
from the new words that I took down. I finished and sent it to my supervisor with
the read file. My supervisor exchanged and gave her comments to me by mail.
When I and other trainees completed the individual assignments, my manager
assigned a new task to choose any topic for group presentations in 5 minutes. We
presented it to her in the next meeting.
In the seventh week, we met and had group presentations with her. She gave
some very helpful comments and then, our speaking skills improved. After that,
she took us to the recording studio to record any passage she gave.

Advantages, disadvantages and solution during internship
1. Advantages:

During my practice course, An Giang Radio-Television Station created very
satisfactory conditions and environment. Whenever I needed help, the staffs were
always there and assisted me with a very enthusiastic attitude. Employees here
also were friendly and devoted to their work. It was a good place for every senior
of Foreign Language Department to show their ability. Therefore, to practice
work related English skills would become a big advantage for me in this
internship. Besides that, the help of Ms. Ngoc as well as the News Translation
Team motivated me during eight weeks of the internship. She shared to me her
valuable experiences as well as how to work effectively. In a short time, her
enthusiasm contributed to the success of eight-week period of probation for a
trainee group at ATV.
2. Disadvantages:
This was the first time I have exposed to practical work, so I faced some
difficulties. Firstly, my translation and interpretation skills were not good in the
first week. Secondly, I gave content in many different fields that I did not have
much knowledge. Thirdly, the volume of the videos was small, so it was so hard

to listen to them. Lastly, I did not have too many technical words, making it
difficult for me to translate.
3.

Solution:

I solved my problems in many ways. Firstly, I improved my listening skills
through English news and foreign programs every day. Secondly, I tried to read
books and newspapers in both English and Vietnamese to learn and improve the
