PRIMARY TEACHER’S SKILL
Opening: When schools are looking to hire a teacher, there are a few basic
requirements that they are looking for: A University degree, experience working
with children, and, of course, patience. Teachers need a variety of skills along
with knowledge of their subject matter and experience in order to be an
effective teacher. What I am going to tell you just 6 soft skills from variety ones
that a person must have to become a teacher. Hopefully everyone will pay
attention to our presentation and give comments for us.
1. Communication
Teaching is a form of communication, so it follows that a teacher must have
excellent communication skills. These include both verbal and written
communication, professional yet friendly body language, and the ability to
really listen.
You also must be able to adapt your communication style to the needs of
different students, depending on their ages, abilities, and learning style. You
will also have to communicate in clear, accurate, and professional terms with
parents of students, colleague and headmaster, both in person and in writing.
- Verbal communication skills are extremely important in teaching. You need to
be able to effectively speak with your students, using a calm, clear tone. You
must be able to explain the material in terms that are both accessible and
meaningful to the students.
- Body language is also important. It contains expression, manner, behavior,…
If you want a good lecture, you have to look confident through your body
language
- Written communication is also important. As a teacher, you will send many
emails to colleagues and will write messages to parents as well. You want your
writing to be clear and grammatically correct.
- Finally, listening is an extremely important communication skill for teachers.
Teachers need to listen to the concerns of students, colleagues, and parents and
show that they understand what others are saying.
2. Calligraphy
Calligraphy is one of the most important skills to primary teachers.
- Calligraphy helps students to increase their ability to remember knowledge. A
teacher with beautiful hand writing make students more interested and attentive
than normal writing
- People said “Stroke describes personality”. Infact, calligraphy shows a part of
the character of the teacher. It helps to train patience, persistence, careful habits.
From there, it improves character and makes people better
3. Understanding of technology
Technology is growing at a rapid pace. In the past five years alone we have seen
huge advancements and we will continue to see it grows. While it may be hard
to keep up with it, it is something that all modern teachers need to do. Not only
do you need to understand the latest in technology, but you must also know
which digital tool is right for your students. It’s a process that may take time but
will be greatly influential in the success of your students.
- Use technology helps teachers feel more convenient, save more time and
efforts. It also expresses the creativity of a teacher.
- When teachers use technology in the unit, it will attract the attention of
students.
For example, teacher teaches by powerpoint. So that the lesson becomes lively,
easy to understand and gives student whole mind to one’s study
4. Classroom management skills
A long side good behavior of students, an effective teacher should also
ensure that students develop study and work habits. Most teachers have the
regulations, rules and procedures in the classroom to help teaching easier and
create an effective learning environment for students. If the teacher does not
consciously establish and develop the processes for each specific situation. It
will lead to conflict and collapse in relationships with students, so that class will
chaos and the students do not feel respected.
example, teachers must start the class on time and do the right task.
Otherwise, losing control right after starting the class will lead to difficulties to
put students back to the learning task. Inappropriate behavior of students will
gradually emerge from the gossip until the more serious acts showing a lack of
respect and cooperation. So let’s begin and end class on time. Show high
expectations with students in this way. If we consciously create and consolidate,
it will become a good habit to help students continue to intensify their work
without delay and delay.
- Perfect organization of the class like building up self-management team with
high responsibilily , said criticism and self-criticism and classroom
management.
- Mapping classes: teachers set up seating map according to the ability of seeing
the board, health conditions, learning capacity, etc.
A great teacher has good classroom management skills and can ensure
good student behavior, effective study and work habits, and an overall sense of
respect in the classroom.
5. Critical thinking and solving skills
In fact, the pedagogical situations always happen unexpectedly and can
often negatively affect the process of teaching and educating students. When
occur
pedagogical situations, the teacher must always be prepared in terms of
psychology. Moreover, each situation occurs pedagogy has different causes,
different objects with the psychological characteristics of the object is never
the same. Meanwhile, to solve pedagogical situations always make
sure that the principles of didactic, educational, respected students personality,
sympathizing with the students, and have confidence in the students. Because
of that, having to put out the behavior immediately, but still subject to the
principle of didactic, should have caused difficulties for teachers.
Teachers must be able to deal with unwanted problems that are not
related to classrooms but can affect the learning outcome of the students. Think
of the learner who witnesses abuse at home. How does the teacher deal with it if
the parents are reluctant about such cases? How will the teacher make sure that
the kid is not dragged into it?
For example: After returning the test , a student went up and asked a teacher
about his/her test result: “Teacher, my test and Thang’s did exactly the same,
why he was 8 points but I just got 5?”. If you are a teacher, what would you do?
Solution: Teacher will call 2 students go on the board and ask them to solve 1
exercise that is in the test, if anyone can solve it without thinking, that person is
the one who do it by herself/hiself. The other one who can not solve it, was
cheat during the test. Therefore, teacher will rely on that solution and fix the
mark if it wrong.
6. Teamwork
Teamwork is necessary between students, between students and teachers,
and among parents and educators. The more teamwork fundamentals exhibited,
the more opportunity exists for students to learn the vital skills of compromise
and collaboration.
Co-Teaching
In many academic settings, teachers in different departments team up to ensure
a continuity of instruction for students. A fifth grade science teacher focused on
scientific measurements and calculations might collaborate with a fifth grade
math teacher who teaches volume and measurements. As a team, the teachers
create a crossover educational experience in which students of both educators
have the opportunity to see how statistical information can be used in the
different disciplines.
Teachers and Parents
Parents play a vital role in a student’s education, particularly during the
formative years. When teachers and parents act as a team, it can reinforce
positive behaviors and learning skills developed in the classroom and practiced
at home. When students see educators and parental figures working together,
they learn to value education and get academic and behavioral support both
inside and outside the classroom. Parent-teacher teams that communicate well
can share information about the student and help devise ways to individualize
learning approaches to best meet the student’s needs.
Student Collaboration
Team or group work in a classroom teaches students the fundamental skills
associated with working as a collective unit toward a common goal. This type of
teamwork introduces a variety of skills that will be valuable for students later in
the workforce, such as communication, compromise and collective effort. In
any type of group work, students must agree about who will handle various
components of a project and work in tandem using one another’s strengths to
accomplish assigned tasks. This teaches time management, resource allocation
and communication skills.
In conclusion: Teaching offers the chance to change other people's lives
permanently for the better. A teachers need to improve their knowledge and
skills everyday. So that you can help to develop somebody's subject knowledge
and maybe even their mind and personality. Wor hard everyday because the
teacher is a good example for students to follow
