1. Introduction
This case study is all about Tony Stark after a week of working at Reece
Rick Hotel, then he decided to go fishing and relax. While driving, Tony
remembered 10 years ago when he worked at O’Grady company. At
O'Grady, he worked very hard and was greatly appreciated; he had
received three promotions and increased his salary. Tony and the
managers got along well and worked together as a team. Their boss is
very supportive and creates space for them to work. When the company
stopped working, Tony found a job at Reece Enterprise. At Reece,
managers are not interested in who does the job well and who doesn't,
they only care about promotion and reward for long-term employees.
Manager is not allowed to make any decisions without the signatures of
the superior. Colleagues treat Tony very indifferently. He wondered if he
was wrong when he agreed to work at Reece without finding more.
2. Body
Question 1: Identify several concepts and characteristics from the field
of organizational behavior that this case illustrates.
Answer:
For the O'grady company: First of all, O'grady's corporate culture is very
good, upholding the comfort of expanding communication relationships.
Secondly, the relationship between the staff is very good and they are
willing to help each other at work. Thirdly, high productivity in the
company. Conclusion, Tony's satisfaction level is high
For the Reece company: First, although the organization is bigger, the
organizational culture is not good. Second, the relationship between
employees is not really good, they are indifferent and unfriendly. Third,
the promotion mode promotes promotion and rewards employees with a
big flaw. So, I think Tony's satisfaction level is not high.
Question 2: What advice can you give Tony? How would this advice be
supported or tempered by behavioral concepts and processes?
3
Answer:
With Tony's problem, I have some advice for him. Try to integrate with
the corporate culture, actively communicate with other employees more.
However, if you try your best and the situation is still not getting better,
then you may think of finding another suitable working environment.
New working environment must ensure the factors that interest Tony
such as:
Corporate culture, level of relationship between employees and
promotions, salaries are recognized by the ability to work must be good
and fit him.
Question 3: Is it possible to find an "ideal" place to work? Explain.
Answer: May or may not be but according to me will be no. Whether
the working environment is good or not is due to how the person works.
It is not natural that when you apply, you get the job you want. You
need to adapt to the environment you face. Not only that, but also
colleagues are always willing to help you. So when you want to have an
ideal working environment, you have to create it. When you step into
the company to do it, you are only 0. So go up from your own ability.
From the job you have chosen. And the first thing you really like about
the company and the job you do. Think carefully before making that
decision. Because the ideal working environment will be a place for you
to have a lot of fun with colleagues who help each other. So there is no
business to do when you don't try to work hard in the work you are
doing.
3. Conclusion
At O'grady's, O'grady's corporate culture is very good, upholding the
comfort of expanding communication relationships. Tony is very
satisfied with this work. At Reece, although the organization is bigger it
is not good. The relationship between employees is not really good, they
4
are indifferent and unfriendly. They only care about promotion and
bonuses for employees. Tony is not satisfied with this work. Tips for
Tony, he should try to integrate, actively communicate with other
employees more. However, if he tries his best and the situation is still
not getting better, then he can think of finding another suitable working
environment.
4. Recommendations
If I'm Tony, I will continue to work in Reece. Starting to work in a
new environment will be a challenging period for me. Perhaps, at first I
was bored with the work I was doing. There were many inappropriate
points, difficult to adapt to the working environment but I would try to
integrate the corporate culture at the new company, communicate more
with colleagues. With available experience, I will apply it in a new work
environment and show my abilities. For a long time without progress, I
will think about finding a new job.
