Objectives  After the lesson, the students will be able to talk about things that happened in the past (the simple past form) and the new hobby.  Developing reading skill. . II. Organize a game to review the past simple tense: tap the board! Play game. +Make some questions for students: -Do you know Home Economic? Answer the questions. (Home Economic: nữ công gia chánh). -What do you learn in Home Economic? -Do you like it? -What do you like to do most in Home Economic? (sew, knitting, cooking, …..).

<span class='text_page_counter'>(3)</span> Prereading (12’). ♦ Setting up the scene: students look at the picture and answer the question “Who is she?”, “What is she wearing?”, “Can you guess who make it?” Today, we’ll read the text about Hoa’s hobby and answer some questions about her. ●TASK 1: Questions – answers -We will listen to a text about Hoa has a new hobby. Listen and try to answer Answer. the question: “What is Hoa’s new hobby?” A/ cooking B/ cutting hair C/ sewing. -Playing the recording. Students listen. -Students give their answer – key: C - Correcting task 1 after the 1st listening: sewing – she wears the things she makes. ● Using the pictures to explain some new words.  Give students some new words: 1.decide – decided (v) → decision(n): sự quyết định → decide to V-inf 2. sew – sewn / sewed (v) Study new vocabulary. 3. fit (v): vừa vặn ( về kích cỡ) Take note. 4. cushion (n): tấm nệm, gối. 5. hobby (n): sở thích. 6. useful (adj): có ích → usefully (adv): hữu ích → usefulness (n): sự lợi ích. 7. sewing machine (n): máy khâu. 8. to try on sth = try it / them on. -Class say the words. -Call some students read before class, correct pronunciation. -Ask students to write down in their notebook..

We’ll read the paragraphs and answer some questions about her. -Play the tape. Suggest class listen and look at their books. -Invite students read the paragraphs, underline some phrase. -Work in group, read silently and order the sentences. Two marks for the first group have the correct answer. a. First, she made a cushion. b. Next, she made a skirt. c. Hoa bought some material. d. Hoa’s neighbor helped her. e. She tried it on. f. It fitted well. g. It was too big. - 1c 2a 3b 4e 5g 6d 7f. Check the answers together, ask class “how do you know?” -Ask students work in pairs to discuss about the question page 93. Invite them read their answer, give feedback, show the answers on the slide.  Correcting the answer: a. Hoa learned to use a sewing machine. b. She made a cushion for her armchair. c. It was blue and white. d. Next she made a skirt. e. It was green with white flowers on it. f. It looked pretty. g. She tried it on bit it didn’t fit. h. Hoa’s neighbor helped her. i. Finally it fitted very well. -Students answer in their note books.. Read the paragraphs and underline. Work in groups to order the sentences.. Work in pairs to answer the questions in their books.. Take note..

Put the verbs in the brackets in the past simple tense”. -Let them read quickly and write the answers on the sub board. Hang it on the board if they finish. -Check the answer.. Optional activity.. -Ask students close their book, remember the paragraph and tell it again.. Home work.. Learn by heart new vocabulary. Prepare “language focus 3”..
