* Cách phát âm chữ /s/ sau danh từ số nhiều và động từ chia ở ngơi thứ 3 số ít (he, she, it) thì Hiện tại đơn:
<i><b>- Sau nguyên âm hoặc sau phụ âm hữu thanh thì phát âm là /z / (đọc là d).</b></i><b> Ví dụ: </b> days, beans, peas, kilos,
vacations, marbles, pen pals, ...

arrives, stays, plays, plans, sings, listens, receives, ...
<i><b>- Sau phụ âm vơ thanh thì phát âm là /s / (đọc là x ). Ví dụ:</b></i>

poets, cooks, amounts, guests, carrots, caps, gifts, presents, types,...
looks, speaks, thinks, stops, writes, pollutes, wraps, takes,...

<i><b>- Chữ s đứng ngay sau chữ e (es) thì được phát âm là /iz/:</b></i>

* Cách phát âm động từ có đi là /ed/:

<i><b>- Động từ tận cùng là nguyên âm hoặc âm hữu thanh (trừ phụ âm d) thì (ed) được phát âm là /d/ (đọc là đ). Ví </b></i>
<i><b>dụ: played, stayed, arrived</b></i><b>, </b>called, planned, used, ironed, filled, combed,...

<i><b>- Động từ tận cùng là phụ âm vô thanh (trừ phụ âm t) thì (ed) được phát âm là /t/. VD:</b></i>
coughed, looked, stopped, fixed, mixed, missed, polished, touched,...

<i><b>- Động từ tận cùng là phụ âm (d) hoặc (t) thì /ed/ được phát âm là /id/. Ví dụ: </b></i>
chatted, needed, wanted, invited, decided, costed, lifted, rented,...

* Lưu ý: 1/ Những âm (H) câm: hour, honest, heir, honor, …

2/ CH được phát âm là /k/: character, mechanic, chemist, chaos, chiropodist, chorus, scholarship, choir, ache,
orchestra, school, character, chord, architect ,…
