<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>


Put up the <i>ox, box, taxi</i> phonics cards on the board.


Write the letters of the words around them in random order.


Ask individual students to come to the board and write the words.


Play the song from Unit 2 (Track 71), the students listen and sing along

<b>Activity: Which One Is Missing? Game </b>

Put the phonics cards face up on the


table/stick them on the board (may use some
cards from the previous lessons)


Give the students 10 seconds to look at the
cards.


Have students close their eyes and then you
take away one cards.


Tell the students to open their eyes and name
the missing cards


<b>7. Listen, point and repeat. Colour the </b>
<b>pictures of the words that start with the x </b>
<b>sound. Say the x words (Track 72) (8’</b>


Show the students the <i>six</i> phonics card. Point
to it and say: /<i>ks</i>/ - <i>six</i>. Ask them to repeat.
Mime writing the number six and say: /<i>ks</i>/ -



<i>six</i>. Encourage the students to do the same
Say the letter. The students perform the action
and say the letter and the word (if they can).
Play the CD. The students listen, point to and
repeat the word.


Point to the picture and have students name
them.


Allow the students some time to colour in the
pictures of words start with the /<i>ks</i>/ sound.
Go around the classroom providing any
necessary help.


<b>Activity: Craftwork (10’</b>


Ask the students to take out their notebooks.
Ask them to choose one word then draw the
letter X and the picture of the item in their
notebooks.

Ask the students to take out their notebooks.


Ask them to draw a big letter Xx in their notebooks.


Ask them to use colour pencils or crayon to colour the letter.

Explain to the students that they will look at the letter and practice saying the
sound at home.

Repeat with the small letter x


The students trace the letters in their activity
books.


Go around and provide any necessary help.
Ask the students to say the sound of the letter.

Explain the activity



First, the students trace the letters in the boxes
Then draw lines from the letters to the


corresponding pictures.
Check around the classroom.

<b>Activity: Which way is right? </b>


Write the four words ox, box, taxi, six on four
papers

Stick each page to each corner of the
classroom


Ask the students to stand up


Say the name of an item and ask the students
to face their faces to the corner with the
corresponding word.

Say slowly at the beginning and quickly later
to make more fun.

Ask them to say what it is


Allow them to colour the picture (taxi) if they
want

Explain the activity


Ask the students to look at each picture and
the words below and circle the correct ones
Go around the classroom and provide any
necessary help. Ask the individual students to
say the name of the pictures.



<b>Activity: Sound and word (5’</b>


Divide the class into two teams, A and B.
Put up the 4 phonics cards of this lesson on
the board.


Ask a student from team A to identify the
sound (one point) and the word (one point).
Continue with a student from team B.


Write the points for each team on the board.
The team with more points wins


Teacher can use some phonics cards from
