LESSON 1 - ( PART 1-2-3)

I.AIMS

1. Knowledge: By the end of this unit pupils can

- Use the words and phrases related to the topics Free time activities. Ask and
answer questions about What someone does in his/her free time, using What do
you do in your free time? – I ....

Sentence Pattners: What do you do in your free time? – I ....
- Vocabulary: free time, karate, surf the internet, clean,....

2. Skills: - Develop Ss reading, speaking and listening skills. .

3.Attitude:-In this lesson, studious and obedient students and love their
hometown, family and friends.

II.TEACHING AIDS

1. Teacher’s: English book , lesson plan, word cards, CD, cassette .soft book

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

III.TEACHING METHODS

-Communicative approach.

-Techniques:+ Ask and answer (say individually)
+ Work in pairs/ groups. Discuss

Play bingo game.:play badminton, play chess, go fishing... then get to make the
sentences with the phrases in game

In Picture a. Tom is visiting Nam’s house...
They are talking about what they like doing in
their free time, using Do you like...? and what do
you do in your free time? Explain the meanings of
world and programme . Check comprehension.
Play the recording

- Ss listen and repeat in chorus two times

- Read in group/ pair: One repeats Tom’s part, the
other repeats Nam’part.

Check and correct/ understanding of te story.

Activity 2

.2. Point and say : 10’

.Ask Ss t look at the pictures a, b, c and d on

page 12 to name people in each picture. Ask Ss
to guess and complete the speech bubbles.
- Teach vocabulary:

Check vocab: what & where

Play game: What and where ( Whole class)

- Ask Ss to look at picture d in part 1 again.

- Have them read the question in the picture.
- Write the question on the board.

- Teach Ss how to answer:

What do you do in your free time?
- I ride my bike in the park.

- Ask Ss to change the underlined words to have
another answers.

again for them to do the task.

- Play it again for them to do the task. Monitor the
activity and offer help, if necessary.

- Get them to compare their answers before
checking as a class.

- Play the recording a third time for them to listen
again, if necessary

Tell the class that they are going to read the text
and complete the sentences.

- Give them a few seconds to read the text and
given words. Remind them to focus on the context
to guess the words to fill the gaps .

- Set a time limit for them to do the task
independently. Monitor the activity and offer
help, if necessary.

- Get them to compare their answers in pairs
before checking as a class. If there is enough time,
have the class read the completed text aloud.

Activity 6

6. Let’s play: 10’

- Tell the lass thay they are going to play a
matching game

-Divide the class into groups of ten.Give each
pupil in each group a piece of paper with one of
the following

words/phrases:go,surf,clean,play,watch,
Cartoons,the Internet,badminton,the room,

to the cinema.When one pupil in the group holds
up the piece of paper with go and says the word
aloud,the pupil who has the peice of paper with to

the cinema holds it up and say the word aloud. 
The game continues until all the pieces of papaer
are matched

- The group that finishes the game the quickest
wins

5. Read and complete

- Ask them repeat a few times.

- Repeat the procedure with the rest pictures.

- Divide the class into 2 groups. Then ask Ss to
practice in pairs.

- Check some pairs.

- Have others give comments.
- T gives comments.

- Go round and check if Ss can repeat and
understand the dialogue.

read them before inviting one or two pupils to read
their answers aloud.

lyrics. Check their comprehension.

- Play the recording all the way through for pupils
to listen and follow in their books.

to sing along with the music before practising
