I. Use the correct present tense forms of the
verbs in brackets:
The man (go) to work by train every day. He
(stay) in the train for haft an hour: and (seat) and
(stand) and (read) his newspaper. He ( try) to

II. Put the verb in brackets into the Simple Past
or the Past Progressive:
1. They (study) in the library when the fire
alarm went off.

at full speed.
4. As he (come) up to his house in the darkness,

=> was crossing - raced: Đang băng qua đường thì 2 cái xe hơn
vượt nhanh qua trước mặt tôi. (Câu 3 và 4 chắc bạn quên đánh chữ
-ing )

=> was working - opened: Giống câu 3. Đang làm gì thì một hành
động/ sự việc đột nhiên xuất hiện

=> looked - were gathering. Clouds số nhiều mà?
7. What did she do (do) when you arrived (arrive) there? – She
<b>writed (write) a letter.</b>
=> ... was she doing when you arrived ... - was writing
8. I went (go) to ask you to help me, but you was sleeping (sleep)
peacefully when I looked (look) into your room. So I decided
(decide) to do it alone.
=> You dùng với be là were: went - were sleeping - looked -
<b>decided</b>
III. Put the verb in brackets into the Simple Past or the Past Perfect:
6. He was (be) late because he had had (have) an accident.
=> Tui nghĩ chỗ này không phân biệt sự kiện này xảy ra trước, cái
nào xảy ra sau mà chỉ nêu ngun nhân vì sau ảnh tới trễ thơi nên
không cần dùng Past Perfect: was - had
not seen
8. I was (be) sorry that I hurt (hurt) him.
=> ^-^ Tui nghĩ là: was - had hurt. Vì "tơi" hối tiếc vì đã làm tổn
thương đến anh ta.
IV. Put the verb in brackets into the Simple Past, the Past
Progressive or the Past Perfect:
5. The children played (play) football when their mother was
<b>coming (come) back home.</b>
=> were playing - came: Đang chơi thì mẹ về
7. Why didn’t they visited (not visit) me while they stayed (stay) in
London?
=> Chắc visited bạn đánh máy nhầm. Tui làm là: didn't they visit -
<b>were staying</b>
