<b>REPORTED SPEECH WITH INFINITIVE</b>


<b>1. Forms and usage:</b>


<b>a) With an object:</b>


* Verb + object + to-infinitive clause
- “You should take the job, Peter”
 She encouraged Peter to take the job.
- “You really must listen to your father”
 My teacher told me to listen to my father.
- “Give me the keys, please”


 My friend told me to give her the keys.
- “You should go to English Speaking Club”


 My teacher encouraged me to go to Englsih Speaking Club.


* advise, ask, tell, instruct, expect, invite, order, persuade, remind, request, warn, want, encourage, force.
* tell someone to do something / ask someone to do something


* tell someone not to do something / ask someone not to do something
<b>b) Without an object:</b>


* Verb + to-infinitive clause
- “I’ll take you to town”


 He offered to take me to town. (not she offered me to take to town.
- “We will pay you 300 dollars a month for your new job”


 They promised to pay me 300 dollars a month for my new job.
* agree, demand, hope, promise, threaten, volunteer, offer, refuse.


* promise to do someone / offer to do someone
