1. Adjectives and adverbs :


<b>a. Tính từ bổ nghĩa cho danh từ và động từ :</b>
Ex: He is a good teacher.


Ex: He is tall.


<b>b. Trạng từ bổ nghĩa cho động từ, tính từ, hoặc một trạng từ khác.</b>
Ex: My teacher teaches well.


Ex: Ex: It is a very interesting book.
Ex: She studies extremely hard.


2. Adverb clause of reason : (mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ lý do)
Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ lý do bắt đầu as, since, because.
Ex: As you weren’t there, I left a message.


Ex: I stayed home because it was raining.


Ex: Since I have no money, I can’t buy a new car.
3. Adjective + that clause :


That clause được dùng với tính lừ chỉ cảm xúc hoặc sự chắc chắn . Tính từ
thường được theo sau bởi that clause gồm: afraid, angry, bad, certain,
<i>dissappointed, glad, grateful, happy, helpful, hopeful, important, lucky, </i>
<i>pleased, possible, sad, sorry, sure, thankful, true, wrong.</i>


Ex: I’m afraid that I can’t come tomorrow.
Ex: We’re pleased that you passed.



Ex: I’m sorry that he failed last exam.


4. Conditional sentence type 1 (Điều kiện có thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc
tương lai)

Present simple S+ will/may/can + V…….
EX: If you do your best, you can pass the exam.


Ex: If you work hard, you will pass the exam.
Ex: If you do not hurry, you may miss the train.


<b>Unit 7: SAVING ENERGY</b>


1. Connectives: and , but, because, or , so, therefore, however.
Dùng để nối hoặc liên kết những từ, cụm từ hoặc câu với nhau.


EX: My hobbies are playing soccer and listening to music.
EX; I want other car but I have no money.


EX: I failed in my exam because I didn’t study.
EX: Would you like tea or coffee?


EX: It’s raining , so I have to stay home and read.


EX: I passed the test, therefore, my parents took me to the circus.
EX: I feel sleepy, however, I must finish the report.


2. Phrasal verbs: (Cụm động từ)

3. Making suggestions: (Đưa ra lời yêu cầu)
<b>a. Suggest + V-ing:</b>


Ex: I suggest taking the children to the zoo.
<b>b. Suggest + that + S + should</b>


Ex: I suggest that you should speak English in class.
<b>Unit 8 : CELEBRATIONS</b>
1. Relative clauses ( mệnh đề liên hệ)


Mệnh đề liên hệ mang chức năng của tính từ nên cịn được gọi là mệnh đề
tính từ.


+ mệnh đề tính từ bắt đầu bằng Who:


<i><b>Who thay thế cho từ chỉ người đứng trước nó và làm chủ từ trong mệnh đề </b></i>
liên hệ



EX: The woman who wears a hat is my mother.
+ mệnh đề tính từ bắt đầu bằng Whom:


<i><b>Whom thay thế cho từ chỉ người đứng trước nó và làm túc từ trong mệnh đề</b></i>
phụ.


EX: My mother is the person whom I always think of
EX: The man whom she visits is very famous.


+ Which có thể làm chủ ngữ hoặc túc từ trong mệnh đề liên hệ.
* mệnh đề liên hệ bắt đầu bằng chủ từ Which :


Which thay thế cho từ chỉ vật đứng trước nó và làm chủ từ trong mệnh đề
liên hệ.


EX: The book which is on the table is my teacher’s .
* mệnh đề liên hệ bắt đầu bằng tân ngữ which:


Which thay thế cho từ chỉ vật đứng trước nó và làm túc từ trong mệnh đề
liên hệ.


EX: The bicycle which you are looking at is mine.


+ Who, whom, which có thể thay thế bằng THAT để làm chủ từ hoặc túc từ
trong mệnh đề liên hệ.


EX: The girl that lives opposite my house is very pretty.
EX: This is the teacher that we admire.


EX: The men (whom) we met yesterday are actors.



EX: The vegetables (which) you bought this morning are fresh.
Ex: That is the man from whom I borrowed the car.

Đại từ liên hệ nằm trong mệnh đề không hạn định (non-defining) giữa 2 dấu
phẩy. Đối với mệnh đề này, ta không dùng that.


EX: Minh, who likes to tell jokes, is my close friend.
<b>(không thể thay who bằng that)</b>


2. Adverb clauses of concession: (mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ)
Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ bắt đầu bằng though, even though,
although, even if.


Ex: Though the tea is vevy hot, we can drink.



Ex: He keeps drinking even though his disease is serious.
Ex: Although the street is very slippery, they can drive fast.


<b>Unit 9 : NATURAL DISASTERS</b>
1. Relative clauses: Mệnh đề liên hệ.


<b>* Phải dùng “that” trong các trường hợp sau : </b>
+ Sau tiên hành tự hỗn hợp : (mixed antecedent)


Ex: The girl and flowers that he painted were vivid (sinh động)
Ex: I saw the men and women and cattle that went to the field.


+ Sau tính từ cực cấp (superlative) và the first, the second, the last, the only,
the very….)


Ex: You are the very person that I have been looking for.
Ex: He was the only man that could enter her house.
Ex: She is the ugliest girl that I’ve ever seen.


+ Sau các đại từ bất định (indefinite pronouns) như : all, nothing, anything,
nobody, much, little, anyone, nothing, everything, some, someone,


somebody……….


Ex: I have never seen anyone that is as lovely as she.
Ex: Has he eaten all that I gave?


+ Sau It is …../ It was……..



Ex: It was he that killed the tigers.


* Không được dùng “that” trong các trường hợp sau :
