Topic 1: Walking
1. Do you like walking?
Sure, walking is my kind of thing because it helps me relieve stress and get in shape.
2. Do you like to walk on your own or with others?
I prefer walking with my friends. Actually, walking with my friends is a good chance for
us to have a deep and meaningful conversation which helps us understand each other
better. Thus, we can have a better friendship.
3. Do people in your country walk a lot?
Hardly at all. People in my country seem to prefer to travel by motorbike.
4. Do you think walking is important?
Absolutely yes. It has been scientifically proven that walking is a great way to improve
or maintain our overall health.
5. Would you say your city is a good place for walking?
Unfortunately, I don’t think so. My city is too small and crowded. The sidewalks are
illegally used by the people living along the streets. Therefore, there is almost no space
for walkers.
6. What time of a day do you think is the best time for walking?
I believe the best time for walking is early morning. There isn’t much traffic at that time,
so the air is fresh, and the streets are not crowded. Moreover, starting a day with a short
walk is extremely helpful for us to stay awake and work better during the day.
Topic 2: Language
1. What language do you speak?
Well, my mother tongue is Vietnamese.
2. Do you learn any foreign language?
I am actually learning English. I have been learning English for 8 years now; however,
my English is really not good.
3. Do you think learning another language is important?
Absolutely. Learning a foreign language, especially English, enables us to communicate
with foreigners. It also helps us widen our knowledge about another culture.
4. How long have you lean English?
I have learned English since I was a primary student. However, I can not speak English
fluently.
5. Will you continue to learn English in the future?
Sure, I will. Learning English not only helps me find a good job in the future, but it also
gives me chances to widen knowledge about new cultures. Thus, I will learn English
until I am good at it.
6. What do you think we should do to study English well?
I think we should practice regularly to be better at English.
Topic 3. Weather
1. What is the weather like in your country?
It depends on which part of country we are referring to. I live in the South of Vietnam,
so I would say the weather here is pretty nice with two different seasons consisting of
sunny season and rainy one.

2. Which season do you like most? What is your favourite season? Why
I’m a big fan of spring, so I think spring is the best season. It also the most beautiful
time of a year with various kinds of flowers, fresh cool wind, and a wide range of
cultural activities.
3. What do you like to do on sunny days?
Sunny days are perfect for outdoor and physical activities. I usually go swimming or go
for a walk with my friends. Sometimes, we have a picnic on the riverbank to enjoy the
wind from the river and the sound of the waves.
4. How does weather affect people’s life?
The weather has great effects on our life in many ways. It affects on what we eat. What
we do, what we wear and our mood. For example, on rainy days, people wear warm
clothes, there are fewer runners and bikers on the streets, and we tend to eat hotpot or
warm soup.
5. Why should we watch weather forecast?
We should watch weather forecast because it provides us useful information so that we
can plan how to dress and what sort of outdoor activities. Besides, it helps farmers and
gardeners plan for crop irrigation and protection.
6. Do you think that weather is changing unpredictable? Why does it happen?
I think so. The weather is becoming more extreme than in the past. The temperature on
sunny days is much higher than that 10 years ago. Besides, it can rain at any time of a
year, not only in the rainy season. The tide is sometimes ridiculously huge and causes
flood, but sometime drought. There are many reasons causing weather changes such as
the development of industry without careful environmental protection plans and policies,
the chemical from farming activities and people’s low awareness.
7. What is the weather like in your hometown?
The weather in my hometown is changeable. Basically, there are two main seasons in
my hometown, they are rainy and sunny. However, we sometimes have periods of time
with clear blue sky, then the rain suddenly come without any predictable signals.
Topic 4. Environment
1. What’s the environment like in your hometown?
The environment in my hometown is really green but a bit dirty. There are many rice
fields and gardens of trees which make the scene cool and beautiful. However, it is a
pity that we can see garbage along the streets and rivers because of the bad habit of
littering of the people there.
2. Are there any environmental problems in your hometown?
Yes, there are some environmental problems in my hometown, and the worst problem is
that there is garbage everywhere, which causes water pollution.
3. Has the living environment in your hometown changed a lot? How?
Yes, of course. My hometown develops quickly; consequently, the living environment
face to many troubles. The rivers are polluted with the waste of daily activities and
farming activities. The people also raise fish along the river, which change the flow and
causes landslide. Moreover, there are more new houses and less green trees. This makes
the atmosphere become hotter.
4. How important is the environment to our life?
The environment is very important to our life. It provides us almost all necessary things
to live such as air to breathe, place to live, what to eat and condition to develop
agriculture and manufacturing.

5. What should we do to reduce the pollution?
We should enhance the awareness of people about the important of the environment.
Besides, we should use public means of transport. We also should save energy
everywhere such as turning off the light when we are not using.
6. Who do you think is responsible for the pollution?
I believe everyone must take the responsibility for the pollution. The means of transport
that we use everyday cause air pollution. The waste from our daily activities cause water
pollution. The chemicals from manufacturing and farming activities are main reasons for
the environmental pollution.
Topic 5: Means of transport
1. How do you go to work every day?
I ride my motorbike to school every day because it is the most convenient and cheapest
means of transport for me.
2. What do you like about that means of transport?
I like going around by motorbike because it doesn’t cost me a lot for gasoline and
parking. Besides, I can move around easily in the narrow and crowded streets in my city
without being affected by the traffic jam during rush hours.
3. What do you dislike about it?
The think I dislike of going by motorbike is that I am affected by the weather. I may get
caught in the rain when I am riding. Besides, the motorbike will stop working if there is
a flash flood.
4. What are some popular public means of transport in your city?
I think bus is the most popular public means of transport in Can Tho city. Besides that,
taxis and motorbike taxis are also used widely.
5. Why do most people in Vietnam use motorcycles?
In my opinion, Vietnamese like travelling by motorbike because it is easy to ride a bike.
Moreover, the streets in Vietnam are narrow and crowded, riders can move easier and
avoid being stuck in the traffic jam. One more reason is that it is affordable to buy a
motorbike.
6. Do you like to travel by ship or boat? Why or why not?
Yes, I do. Travelling by ship or boat is very romantic and we can enjoy the cool and
fresh wind from the sea or the river,
7. What could government do to encourage more people to use public transport?
I think government should improve the infrastructure such as widening the roads and
building bus and train stations. Besides, they should provide or encourage better services
and more professional staff.
8. What are the benefits of using public means of transport?
Using public means of transport brings us many benefits. Firstly, it helps reduce traffic
jam because the fewer vehicles on the streets, the less traffic jam it has. Secondly, we
can protect our planet and reduce the environmental pollution. When we use public
means of transport, we can cut down the amount of gas being used. At that time, we can
mine less and reduce the amount of smoke from vehicles. Finally, we can save money
because the fare is much cheaper than the cost of fuel and other fee of using private
vehicles.

Topic 6: Holidays
1. What are some important holidays in your country?
There are several important holidays during a year such as Tet holiday – Vietnamese
Lunar year, Hung King festival, April 30th, Labor Day, Independent Day and New Year.
2. What is your favourite holiday?
My favourite holiday is Tet because that is the most important holiday to every
Vietnamese. It is a valuable chance for us to come back our home and enjoy the
traditional activities together. During this holiday, the streets are very beautiful with
many kinds of flowers and colourful flags. These days, we visit our relatives and close
friends to show our love and respect to each other.
3. What do you often to on holidays?
Certainly, I come back my hometown to have family reunion and enjoy myself in the
peaceful atmosphere beside my beloved family members.
4. Where do people in your hometown often go on holidays?
I think they often arrange time to visit the grandparents or relatives because the family
relationship is extremely important to every Vietnamese.
5. Do you think that we should have longer Tet holidays? Why or why not?
I don’t think it is a good idea because the Vietnamese Tet holiday now is long enough
for us to do many things. Besides, a long holiday may have bad effects on our work and
the country’s economy.
Topic 7: Traditional music
1. Do you like listening to music?
Yes, I do. I love listening to music because it helps me relax after hard studying hours.
2. What is your favourite kind of music?
My favourite kind of music is pop. It sounds romantic and emotional. My favourite pop
singer is Ms. My Tam who has a beautiful and strong voice.
3. How much time do you spend on listening music a day?
I usually spend about half an hour listening to my favourite songs in the morning before
going to class. It helps me start a day with happy feeling.
4. When do you think is the best time for listening to music?
I believe there is not an exact point of time which is the best for listening to music
during the day because it depends on how our feeling and emotion. For me, the early
morning and in the evening after finishing all work are the best time to enjoy my
favourite music and completely relax my mind.
5. Who is your favourite celebrity?
My favourite celebrity is a Vietnamese famous singer named My Tam. She is beautiful,
talented, and hard working. Thus, each of her works is a wonderful piece of music which
satisfies all her fans.
6. What are some benefits of listening to music?
Listening to music can evaluate our mood, make us happier, reduce stress and
depression. Moreover, music can enhance our verbal intelligence.
7. Can you play any kinds of musical instrument?
Unfortunately, I don’t know to play any musical instrument although I wish I could.
However, I will learn to paly guitar next summer when I have a little free time.

8. Do you think it is good to let a child to go to music class?
I strongly believe that this is absolutely a good idea. Music helps a child improve their
life without any limit or burdens on his or her shoulder. Learning music also allows
them to understand more about the beautiful things around them. They can become more
active and have ability to control and express their emotion better.
9. What do you think about your traditional music?
Vietnamese traditional music is very various, each of them has its own charming
aspects. From the North to the South of Vietnam, we can enjoy different types of
traditional music such as Ca Trù or Hát Ả Đào, Chầu Văn, Chèo, Quan Ho Folk Songs,
Tuồng, Xẩm music, Chanty (hò, lý), Hue Royal Court Music, Southern Amateur Music
(Đờn Ca Tài Tử) and Cải Lương. Importantly, whatever it is, it shows the love and
proud of Vietnamese culture, people, history, and beautiful nature.
Topic 8: The Internet
1. How often do you use Internet?
I always spend about an hour using the internet every day.
2. What do you use the internet for?
I use the internet to search information for my studying. Besides, I entertain by listening
to music on the internet.
3. How did you learn how to use the Internet?
My friend taught me how to use it when I was a high school student. At that time, we
had a group assignment, and we needed to search some information to finish it.
4. Do you use the internet much during a day?
I think I spend much time using the internet a day because it is necessary for my
studying and my life. I usually search information, check and send email, discuss in
group with my friends as well as play social network.
5. What are some advantages of the internet?
The internet brings us many benefits. First, it provides us easy connectivity through
email, social network like Facebook, Twitter. Second, it contains a plenty of various
information which can help us widen our knowledge. Furthermore, the internet is a great
source of entertainment where we can enjoy our favourite films, music, books, games
and so on.
Topic 9: Email
1. How often do you send emails?
I almost write at least an email a day for my studying. I need to contact with my
professor and my classmate about the lessons, duty schedule as well as group
assignments. Besides, I write several ones a week for my family and my friends.
2. How many email accounts do you have?
I have two email accounts. One is exclusively for work, and the other for connecting
with family friends.
3. What email provider do you use?
I am using Google’s email service.
4. What are the benefits of email?
To begin with, email is extremely fast in comparison with traditional post. Then, we can
add lovely icons or attach document, which is convenient. The last one is its
convenience because users can check and send email wherever they are and whenever
they want.

5. Do you think email may be dangerous?
Yes, I think so. Email may be dangerous because there are always a lot of spam mail,
which makes us annoyed and stressful. Furthermore, the danger of being hacked the
email account always exists, and it will be rather terrible if it happens.
6. Do you prefer email via your mobile phone or a computer?
I prefer sending email via a computer because its screen is large, and the keyboard also
helps me type faster and easier.
Topic 10. Swimming
1. Can you swim?
Yes, I can. Actually, I believe that I a good swimmer because my parents let me learn
swimming when I was a young kid.
2. Do you like swimming? Why or why not?
Yes, I do. I really love swimming because it is a great stress reliever. In fact, swimming
make our physical and metal health better. Besides, swimming is also a perfect sport to
keep fit.
3. Are you a good swimmer?
I think so. I am not a professional swimmer; however, I believe I can survive in case
falling into the water.
4. Do you think swimming is an important skill? Why?
Sure, swimming is an important survival skill, especially for the people living in the area
where there are many rivers and ponds like the South of Vietnam.
5. Have you ever suffered cramp while swimming? If yes, what did you do at that time?
Luckily, I have not experienced that situation. However, my parents told me to keep
calm, bawl/cry for help, and try to float on my back if suffering cramp while swimming.
