- By the end of the lesson Ww recognize and pronounce the letter Ww and its sound
correctly.
- Understand, recognize and say the three Ww words.
- Write the letter Ww.
- Vocabulary: well, watch, window.

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing.
<b>3. Attitude:</b>
- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.
<b>II. Teaching aids: </b>
- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant.

- Model - Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work.
- Some techniques can be used: music chairs, find it.

<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>
<i><b>Activity: Unscramble the words</b></i>
- T draws pictures of van, vase, violet, violin on the board.
- T write the names of the 4 pictures with jumbled letter.
- T asks a student to come to the board, unscramble one of the words and write it.
- T ask the class for verification.
- Ss repeat the activity with some more students as necessary.

- Ask Ss repeat and check Ss’ pronunciation.
- T use the phonics cards well, watch, watermelon
read the words out loud and have students repeat.

- T uses gestures to help students to understand the
meanings of the three words.
- Stick the cards on board and have students repeat
the words chorally several times (in the correct

- Ask the students to colour in the letters.
- Ss colour in the letters.
<i><b>Activity: Where’s the letter? (3’)</b></i>
- Teacher prepares photocopies of a page/ pages
from some story books.
- Ask the students to work in pairs.
- Ss work in pairs.
- Hand out the photocopies and ask students to
search for and circle the letter Ww on the page(s).
- In a limited time, the pair/ group has circled the
most Ww is the winner.
<i><b>Activity 2: Listen and point. Choose (7’)</b></i>
- T points to the van and say: Where is the well?
- Have students listen and repeat.
- Have students look at the book and listen to the
words: well, watch, window.
- T asks Ss listen and repeat the .
- Repeat with the rest of the items in random
order.
- Ask the students to look at the pair of pictures on
the side and colour the pictures.
- Ss colour the pictures.
- T go around the classroom asking students to
name the items they are colouring.

<i><b>Activity 3. Chant and show (7’) </b></i>
- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board.
- Without music, use the phonics card and step Vv
to sing the chant with van. Do the same with

- T put up the phonics cards on the board and ask
Ss to memorize the order in which the items
appear.
- Ask the Ss to close their eyes and remove the
cards.
- Ask individual students to name the items in the
correct order.
- Change the order of the phonics cards and repeat
the activity.

- Listening, speaking, reading, writing.
<b>3. Attitude:</b>
- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant.

<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>
<i><b>Activity: Thumbs up or down </b><b>(5’)</b></i>
<i><b>- T hold up the phonics cards one at a time to show to the students.</b></i>
- T say the name of the item on the card (Teacher can say correctly or not) and ask
the students to verify the word you say is correct or not by putting their thumbs up
(correct) and down (incorrect).
- Encourage the students to give the correct answer
<i>Eg. Teacher: (holding up the well phonics card): It’s a watch.</i>
<i> Class: (putting their thumbs down)</i>
<i> Teacher: Good! What is it?</i>
<i> Class: Watch! etc</i>
<b>3. New lesson (30')</b>

- Play the CD again. Ss listen and point to the
pictures of the key words when they hear them in
the story.
- Read the story. Ss follow in their books.
- Teacher reads the printed words then let the
students look at the pictures and say the words.
- T asks Ss work in pairs. One reads while the other
checks, then they swap roles. Or one reads the
printed words while the other looks at the pictures
and says the words.
- T go around the class to help.
<i><b>Activity: Say the Sight Words </b><b>(5’)</b></i>
- T asks Ss point to and say the sight words: where,
- Ss point to and say the sight words: where, is, the,
<i>can, you, see.</i>
- Have some students read them aloud.
<i><b>Activity: Speed race </b><b>(5’)</b></i>
- T divides the class into 3 teams, A, B and C. Ask
3 students from each team to come to the board
- Write the three words well, watch, window on the
board.
- T calls out/ shows the phonics card of one of the
phonic cards, the 3 Ss have to race to touch the
word.
- Ss race to touch the word.
- Ss who touches first wins a point for his/ her team.
- The team with the most points wins.
<i><b>Activity 2. Song</b><b> (6’)</b></i>
- Put up the well, watch, windowphonics cards up
on the board.
- Point to the well and say: Where is the well? The
students repeat.
- Follow the same procedure and present the rest of
the song.
- Play the CD. The students listen and sing along.
- Play the CD again. The pupils sing and do
corresponding actions. OR ask the students to take
out their own well, watch, window picture cards and
place them on their desks. Play the CD again. The
students listen and hold up the corresponding
picture cards.
<i><b>Activity: Say the name of the phonics card </b><b>(5’)</b></i>
- T puts the well, watch and window phonics cards
on your desk, face them down
- T ask a student to come and pick up a card, show
it to the class and say the word.
- Ss to come and pick up a card, show it to the class
and say the word.
- Ask the rest of the class for verification.
- Ask the student to invite a friend to come to play.
- T divide the class into teams. The team has the
most points is the winner.
