<b>I. Objective: </b>
<b>1. Language focus:</b>
- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to practise the sound of the letter Cc
and the coresponding words.
<i>Vocabulary: car</i>
<b>2. Skill: </b>
- Listening, speaking, reading, writing.
<b>3. Attitude:</b>
- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.
<b>II. Teaching aids: </b>
- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant.
<b>III. Method:</b>
- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work.
- Some techniques can be used: Craftwork, Thumbs Up or Down

<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>
<i>Activity: Guess” game</i>
- T divide class into two teams, A and B
- Ask a student from either teamto come to the board
- Whisper one of the target vocabulary words to the student
- Without speaking, the student does the actions
- The first team to guess the word wins a point
- Repeat as many as necessary

- T elicit the letters by saying ‘This is the
<i>letter A. The letter A says /æ/”</i>
- T elicit the pictures by doing the actions and
asking students to say the words
- Follow the same procedure for the other
letters
- T ask Ss to match the upper case letters to
- T go around and provide any necessary help
<i><b>Activity: Sound and Word(5’)</b></i>
- T devides Ss into 2 teams, A and B and put
one of the phonics cards on the board
- T ask Ss from Team A to identify the sound
(1 point), the picture (1 point), or both (2
points)
- Continue with a student from Team B
- T monitors and prides the winner
<i><b>Activitiy 7. Listen. Point and repeat (8’)</b></i>
- T point to pictures and have students name
them
- T name some colours and ask Ss to repeat
- T ask Ss to colour the pictures which have
<i>Cc in them</i>
- T gives 4 minutes to colour in the ‘cat’ and
<i>‘carrot’. Go around the classroom providing </i>
any necessary help
<i><b>Activity: Hunt The Cards Game(7’)</b></i>
- T divides Ss into two teams 1 and 2.
- T hide the phonics cards around the
classroom.
- T write the following for each team: 1 -cat,
carrot2 - clock, car
- Ss in each team have to ‘hunt’ for the
phonics cards of their team.
- T play the song (Track 18) from lesson 2.
The first team to find all their words before
the end of the song is the winner.

recognize the corresponding pictures.Write the letter Cc.

- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.

- T write on the board the big C and small c
- T point to the letter C and say out loud “This is
the letter C/siː/. The letter C says /k/”
- T point to the letter c and say out loud “This is
the letter c/siː/. The letter csays /k/”
- T ask Ss to repeat the sound chorally, then
individually
- T ask Ss to say the sound individually, correct
pronunciation if necessary
<i><b>Activity: How to write letter C (3’)</b></i>
- Demonstrate how to write the big A by stroke
- Draw an example of letter C using dashed lines
- Use a different colored chalk to model tracing
the letter C.
- Have some students practice tracing letter C on
the board.
- T ask Ss to trace letter C in the books.
- Students say after each finished letter.
- T go around to give help if necessary.
<i><b>Activity 2. Trace and match (5’)</b></i>
- T copy the 2 boxes from the book to the board
and put the phonics card of bed up between them
- T tells Ss that you are going to write the letter
<i>Aa, Bb and Cc into the box</i>
- Demonstrate the writing
- T draw linesto the correct pictures that
correspond to each letter
- T go around the classroom and providing any
necessary help
<i><b>Activity 3: Write the letter Cc. Colour the right </b></i>
<i><b>pictures that start with the c sound (7’)</b></i>
- T show the 8 phonics cards one by one. For
example, show the card with <i><b>cat</b></i>, but incorrectly
say <i><b>carrot </b></i>or <i><b>car</b></i>, the students should stand; if
the words are correctly said, they should stay
sitting.
- Do the same procedure for the other 7 cards.
- T ask Ss to write the letter Cc in the box
- T ask Ss name pictures and colour the pictures
that start with the c sound.
- T go around and give help as needed
<i><b>Activity 4: Say the sounds. Trace the right </b></i>

- T ask Ss to read aloud the sound.
