Bank Giro Credit System Hệ thống chuyển khoản ngân hàng
Giro Credit
A Giro system is commonly used in Europe. It is
credit clearing since it is initiated by the debtor
making a request to the paying bank that a credit
be made to another individual’s account.
The advantage of the Giro system is the simplicity
because the papers and information are sent in
only one direction (from the drawer’s bank to the
payee’s bank through the Clearing House). Many
of the costs invovled in cheque system are
avoided. Additionally, because the transactions
involve an initial debit and subsequent credit to
a/c, the default risk is reduced once the
transactions begin. The disadvantage of the Giro
system is, however, readily apparent. It relies on
the debtor (puchaser) initiating the transaction.
The Creditor thus loses control over the
implementation of the payment, which until
notification is given. Consequently, Giro
transactions are not suitable for large number of
transactions where the seller of goods has no way
of making the purchaser pay, and there may be a
greater use of cash for day-to-day transaction in
comparision with countries which use cheques.
The Giro system is particularly on a regular basis.
Payments for electricity, gas and water are
obvious examples.
