I.What is Entrepreneurship and Innovation
I.I. What is Entrepreneurship ?
The word entrepreneur derives from the French words entre, meaning “between,”
and prendre, meaning “to take.” The word was originally used to describe people
who “take on the risk” between buyers and sellers or who “undertake” a task such
as starting a new venture. Inventors and entrepreneurs differ from each other. An
inventor creates something new. An entrepreneur assembles and then integrates
all the resources needed—the money, the people, the business model, the strategy,
and the risk-bearing ability—to transform the invention into a viable business.
Entrepreneurship is defined as the process by which individuals pursue
opportunities without regard to resources they currently control. Others such
as venture capitalist Fred Wilson define it more simply, seeing entrepreneurship

as the art of turning an idea into a business. In essence, an entrepreneur’s
behavior finds him or her trying to identify opportunities and putting useful
ideas into practice. The tasks called for by this behavior can be accomplished
by either an individual or a group and typically require creativity, drive, and a
willingness to take risks. Sam Hogg, the cofounder of GiftZip.com, exemplifies
all these qualities. Hogg saw an opportunity to create a single place for people to
shop for electronic gift cards, he risked his career by passing up alternatives to
work on GiftZip.com full-time, and he’s now working hard to put GiftZip.com in
a position to deliver a creative and useful service to its customers.
However, ongoing firms can also behave entrepreneurially. Typically, established
firms with an entrepreneurial emphasis are proactive, innovative, and risk-taking.
For example, Apple Inc. is widely recognized as a firm in which entrepreneurial
behaviors are clearly evident. Steve Jobs is at the heart of Apple’s entrepreneurial
culture. With his ability to persuade and motivate others’ imaginations,
Jobs continues to inspire Apple’s employees as they develop innovative product
after innovative product. To consider the penetration Apple has with some of
its innovations, think of how many of your friends own an iPhone, iPad, or
Macintosh computer. Similarly, studying Facebook or Zynga’s ability to grow
and succeed reveals a history of entrepreneurial behavior at multiple levels
within the firms.10 In addition, many of the firms traded on the NASDAQ, such
as Intuit, Amazon.com, Google, and Research In Motion are commonly thought

of as entrepreneurial firms. The NASDAQ is the largest U.S. electronic stock
market, with over 2,850 companies listed on the exchange.

Picture 1: RATES OF EARLY-STAGE ENTREPRENEURIAL
ACTIVITY (AGES 18 TO 64)

In the following quote,

Sir Richard Branson, the founder and CEO of Virgin, describes how his company
operates in an entrepreneurial manner:
Convention . . . dictates that “big is beautiful,” but every time one of our ventures
gets too big we divide it up into smaller units. I go to the deputy managing director,
the deputy sales director, and the deputy marketing director and say,

“Congratulations. You’re now MD [managing director], sales director and
marketing director—of a newcompany.” Each time we’ve done this, the people
involved haven’t had much morework to do, but necessarily they have a greater
incentive to perform and a greater zeal for their work. The results for us have been
terrific. By the time we sold Virgin Music, we had as many as 50 subsidiary record
companies, and not one of them had more than 60 employees.
I.II Why Become an Entrepreneur ?
a.Become their own boss
The first of these reasons—being one’s own boss—is given most commonly. This
doesn’t mean, however, that entrepreneurs are difficult to work with or that they
have trouble accepting authority . Sometimes the desire to be their own boss results
from a realization that the only way they’ll achieve an important personal or
professional goal is to start their own business.
b. Pursue Their Own Ideas
The second reason people start their own firms is to pursue their own ideas Some
people are naturally alert, and when they recognize ideas for new products or
services, they have a desire to see those ideas realized. Corporate entrepreneurs
who innovate within the context of an existing firm typically have a mechanism for
their ideas to become known. Established firms, however, often resist innovation.
When this happens, employees are left with good ideas that go unfulfilled
I.III Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs

Picture 2 : Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs
Passion for the Business : The number one characteristic shared by successful
entrepreneurs is a passion for their business, whether it is in the context of a new
firm or an existing business. This passion typically stems from the entrepreneur’s
belief that the business will positively influence people’s lives
Passion for the Business The number one characteristic shared by successful
entrepreneurs is a passion for their business, whether it is in the context of a new
firm or an existing business. This passion typically stems from the entrepreneur’s
belief that the business will positively influence people’s lives
Tenacity Despite Failure Because entrepreneurs are typically trying something
new, the failure rate associated with their efforts is naturally high.
Execution Intelligence The ability to fashion a solid idea into a viable business is a
key characteristic of successful entrepreneurs. Commonly, this ability is thought of
as execution intelligence. In many cases, execution intelligence is the factor that
determines whether a start-up is successful or fails.
I.IV What is innovation ?
A promising idea is an invention: It is the creation of an idea in a
laboratory, a test of the principles involved, and an act of technical
creativity where a concept may be suitable for patenting . Innovation entails

actually delivering on the idea’s promise by creating distinctive value and paying
attention to the needs of customers.
There are 2 types of innovation :
disruptive innovations and sustaining innovations
1-The former, disruptive innovations involve a new value proposition by which
new markets are created.
2-In contrast, the latter, sustaining innovations are best thought of as
improvements to existing products, processes or markets.

I.V Entrepreneurship’s importance

a. Economic Impact of Entrepreneurial Firms
Innovation Innovation is the process of creating something new, which is central
to the entrepreneurial process. According to a 2010 Small Business Administration
report, small firms (fewer than 500 employees) are providers of a significant share
of the innovations that take place in the United States
Job Creation Small businesses are the creators of most new jobs in the United
States, and employ more than half of all private sector employees. Small business
is held in high regard in this area. According to a Kauffman Foundation survey, 92
percent of Americans say entrepreneurs are critically
important to job creation

b. Entrepreneurial Firms’ Impact on Society
The innovations of entrepreneurial firms have a dramatic impact on a society.
Think of all the new products and services that make our lives easier, enhance
our productivity at work improve our health, and entertain us

c. Entrepreneurial Firms’ Impact on Larger Firms

In addition to the impact that entrepreneurial firms have on the economy
and society, they also have a positive impact on the effectiveness of larger
firms.
I.VI The entrepreneurial process
This is a basic step for growing one business . We will focus step by step in next
item respectively
Step 1 Deciding to become an entrepreneur
Step 2 Developing successful business ideas
Step 3 Moving from an idea to an entrepreneurial firm

Step 4 Managing and growing the entrepreneurial firm

II. Recognizing Opportunities and Generating Ideas
In this report , I will show you an idea about airbag for motorcycle . We have 3
way to identify an opportunity

Picture 4: 3 way to identify an opportunity

+ Observing Trends :
Nowadays , motorbike is an indispensable part , number of people using
motorbike in Viet Nam is over 70% . And motorbike and car share 1 lane , this is
so dangerous . The accidents happen more often so demand about passive safety
on motorbike is necessary
+Solving a broblem :
If we have 1 passive safety device in motorbike will help us safety when crash is
happened . The accident is avoided . More details it is an airbag , when crash is
happened aribag is deployed and save people from dangerous . The airbag covers
body of motorbike user avoid injured
+Finding a gap in market place :
Nowadays , It seem no devices for passive safety on motorbike . The market
place still does not have it . It is big marketplace in Viet Nam . Investors have not
yet heavily invested about it
II.I Windows of opportunity

Picture 5 : Windows of opportunity
So for aribags in motorbikes , the window of timely is just opened . Although

airbags in car is popular , airbag in motorbike is so new . Inovation focuses around
product concept and is largely exporatory . Competition is on feature : profits are
made through differentation

Picture 6 : Timely of Opportunities
In this timely , we will focus a product concept and answer about qustion like :
what does it mean ? , How many supporting reasons and objections ? , …

II.II Problem solving and decision making
To complete a product is required , we need critical thinking and creative thinking .

Picture 7 : Problem Solving
Lets focus about aribags
What does it mean ?
+ It’s aribag which deployed when crash is happened to save motorbike user . It
‘s created by microcontroller . It ‘s receives data from sensor , sensor is devices to
detect crash . When crash is happenned , airbag is deployed . We use the software
(programing languge) in the micro controller and the hardware is the designed to
integrat in motorbike .And the last we need tester to verify the product before
dilivery to customer . So we actually need Software , Hardware , Test Engineer

Picture 8 : System of airbags
How to deployed airbag ?
+When crash is happened , the microcontroller provide a current for resistance
and the heat in resistance and the air around resistance contains chemical =>
airbags is deployed

Picture 9 : More details about airbags

+ Why the aribags is important ?
It ‘s device to save a life , avoid injured . It ‘s useful and surprisingly . Reduce
injury rate
III Feasibility Analysis
In this item , se start to analysis feasibility . Let’s begin with answering question :
+First, is the industry accessible? Is it a realistic place for a new venture to
enter?
In technology industry , airbagd has appeared and sucessfully with car , but in
motorbike at Viet Nam it ‘s opened marketplace . It nerver appeared before , no
motorbike company intergrate passive safety to their product . This is a opportunity
to start a business
+ Second, does the industry contain markets that are ripe for innovation or are
underserved?
Yes , nowsaday safety needs are urgent , over 80% people in Viet Nam are
possessed and used motorbike . The innovation about embedded system is
developing . So the marketplace is growing , it ‘s completely possible to reach the
top
+ Third, are there positions in the industry that will avoid some of the negative
attributes of the industry as a whole?
Actually , the motorbike is necessary and indispensable . The problem is too many
motorbikes influences environment . So infuture may be the motorbike are
prohibited . That reason may be made business are collaspe

Picture 10: Forces that determine Industry Profitability
Let we start one by one

Table 1 : Evaluation board about Industry Profitability

+ In threat of substitutes : I chose low because the passive safety in motorbike is
important , you can not use another way to reduce injured may be some safety shirt
. And when the motorbike is share lane with another vehicle , it is needed more
than ever
+ In threat of entrance : Actually the technology about this device is the most
important . Because we don’t need create a beatiful or cool airbag , we need the
airbag deployed when crash is happened . So if we start soon and dominate the
market . It ‘s very difficult to the entrant
+Rivalry among exiting firm : Currently , very less company invested to this topic ,
they only focus big vehicle like car , bus ,….And as we mentioned before the most

important in airbag is the technology . And it’s keep secret , if we start soon it ‘s
more advantage
+Bargaining Power of supplier: i chose Medium , the most important in this
product is the chemical to deployed airbag . Today we have supplier with most
experience is Takata
+Bargaining of buyers : This product affect of safety of buyer , the customer is
motorbike ‘s company . So i chose medium

IV.Developing and Effective Business model
IV.I What is businessmodel ?
Business model is a firm’s plan or recipe for how it creates, delivers, and captures
value for its stakeholders. Business models are foundational to a firm’s ability to
succeed, both in the short and long term, especially when it is the first one to
introduce a new product or service to customers.
IV.II Developing and Effective Business model
Let’s focus to Table 2.
+Key partners : In this product . our partner is unit which prodvide chemical to
deployed airbags . Suppliers is unit which provide hardware-electronic chip and

devices which is connected chip to computer . To grow up business we need IT
support and network of computer , keyboard , intenet ,..
+Key activities : The partner provied chemical , hardware and devices to work is
important . We need keep in touch with them because when we have problem they
will help us to find solution . Distribution channels through roadway , waterway or
airway through subsidiaries

Table 2: Developing and Effective Business model
+Key Resources :
-Chemical : Limited resources . It ‘s important , we depend on us to when find
another way
-Electronic chip : We can import their products by many other ways . This is
important , because this heart of airbags
+ Customer relationship :
The customer is a motorbike’s company . This is win-win relation , they need us
because thay want to keep their product more safety , we need them to sell
products . And they are our new “disbutrition channels” , through of them the
motorbike user know us . Take advantage of reputation , we can make more
profitable

+ Channels:
We need product ads , ads‘s chennel is very important . And we need the
motorbike’s company know about us . Moreover the main customer , motorbiker
user is more important
Conclude:
This ideal is possible to start a bussiness . But too much difficult thing and
resources need to prepare
