Summary.
Billy Bones, an old sea captain staying at the inn owned by young Jim
Hawkins and his mother, was visited by some old friends and had a fatal
seizure. Among his effects the Hawkinses fought a treasure map, and the
local squire and doctor undertook to follow it to some place in the Caribbean
to find the treasure. In Bristol, where they went to buy a ship, they bought a
particular one and staffing it with sailors recommended by the one-legged
bar-keeper Long John Silver, who also persuaded Dr. Livesey and Squire
Trelawney to hire him as cook.On the high seas, Jim overheard a
conversation among Silver and many of the crews and realized that they
were pirates, veterans of the same crew that buried the treasure that Jim and
his friends were seeking. Once the ship reached its destination, fighting soon
broke out between the pirates and Jim's friends, along with the non-pirate the
crews. At one point the pirates had possession of the ship, the Hispaniola,
and replaced the Union Jack with the Jolly Roger. At the end, the non-pirates
won and made their way to the treasure site marked on the map, only to
discover that Ben Gunn, a sailor left behind by the original pirate crew, had

already found and moved it. The party set sail for home, with some of the
pirates prisoners on board and others left behind on the island. At one of
their stops in the Caribbean. Long John Silver escapes with a bag of the
treasure.

Summary.
Gulliver went on four separate voyages in Gulliver's Travels. All four
voyages brought new challenges to Gulliver's life and new opportunities to
discover new lands .The first voyage was to Lilliput, where Gulliver was
huge and the Lilliputians were small. Gulliver was convicted of treason for
"making water" in the capital. The second voyage was to Brobdingnag, a
land of Giants where Gulliver seemed as small as the Lilliputians were to
him. Gulliver was afraid, but his keepers were gentle. He was humiliated by
the King when he was made to see the difference between how England was
and how it ought to be. Gulliver realized how revolting he must have seemed
to the Lilliputians.Gulliver's third voyage was to Laputa (and neighboring
Luggnagg and Glubdugdribb). In Laputa, the people were ridiculous in other

ways. Also, he met the Stuldbrugs and discovered that they were miserable.
His fourth voyage was to the land of the Houyhnhnms, who were horses
endowed with reason. Their rational, clean, and simple society is contrasted
with the brutality of the Yahoos. Gulliver came to recognize their human
vices. Gulliver stayed with the Houyhnhnms for several years and he never
wanted to leave. When he was told that the time had come for him to leave
the island, he had to return to England. Gulliver feels disgusted about other
humans, including his own family.
