Who knows you better your family or your friends?
In our weekly “test” single people who are looking for a partner ask their mother and thenbest friend to help. Their mother chooses one partner and their best friend chooses
another. The test is to see who can choose the best partner!
This test is to see who can choose the best partner!
This week’s single man is Richard Taylor, a 26-year-old musician from Southampton. His
mother Meg chooses one girl, and his best friend Danny chooses another. Then Ricchard
goes on a date with aech. Which girl does he prefer? Who chooses the right girl for him?
1 usually work in F.pgland hut sometimes I work abroad too. When I’m not working I like
going to the cinea and eating in nice restaurants. I’m not very sporty and I don’t do any
exercise, but at least I don’t smoke.
I think I’m open and friendly - 1 get on well with most people - but I’m sometimes quite
shy too. For example, I don’t like going to parties. I prefer fo meet friends individually or
in small groups.
I like interlligent, funny women who make me laugh and ideally who love music.
Physically I prefer women with dark hair who are not taller than me. And I like women
Who are good listenner.
I’m sure that may friend Danny knows me better than my family because we often talk
about girlfriends and the problems we have. I don’t usually t my family about that kind of
thing. My mum always says that I look for the wrong kind of girl but that’s what mothers
always say!

Around the World in a Caravan
,
We left England in April. The weather was cold and wet. We travelled
through France in May and June, and it became much wanner. Paris was
very crowded, but the flowers and trees looked lovely. We really enjoyed
eating and drinking outside in the sunshine. When we arrived in Poland,
there was a terrible thunderstorm and our caravan got very wet. We camped
by the side of the roads or near rivers. We lit fires because it was still cold at
night. 1 learnt to catch wild animals and fish and cook them on the fire. We
went to Russia. The countryside was very beautiful. We travelled a long way
through forests and mountains. The weather was very hot. We swam in the
lakes and sunbathed. We spent the whole summer in Russia. It was the best
time to visit this country, because in the winter it is incredibly cold.

Britain’s youngest millionaire
TOM HARTLEY made his first million at the age of 14. The teenager
became Britain’s youngest millionaire selling luxury sports cars with his
father, who owns a car company. This is his story.
I sold my first Porsche when I was 1 1 .1 was 12 when I got my
first Ferrari for my good performance at work. But I’m really just like any '
other 14-year-oid. I never enjoyed school much. Ever since I was a little boy,
w e’ve lived next door to my father’s business, and I watched him selling and
driving all these brilliant cars. I knew the names of all the different makes as
soon as I could talk. Lessons never interested me. I only wanted to learn to
sell cars. When I was 11, Mum and Dad let me leave school and have a
home tutor. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., I work in the family business. Every
day I learn something new. It’s fantastic, and I love every minute of it.
I know it’s strange, but I’m not too interested in the money. It’s
nice being able to afford designer jsuits and a mobile phone, but that’s all. I
like the same things as other 14-year-olds: sport, going, out with my friends,
listening to music and playing computer ganger I ’m good at buying and
selling cars. That’s the only thing that makes me different.
