1. Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union is a socio-political organization of Vietnamese youth.
The HCYU was founded, led and trained by the Communist Party of Vietnam & President Ho Chi
Minh. The HCYU’s members are progressive youths, striving for the Party’s ideal and goal of
national independence and socialism, for the cause of rich people, strong country, just,
democratic and civilized society.
2. From 26 March 1931 to present, the Youth Union had been renamed several times timely
fulfilled its tasks in each revolutionary period.
From 1931 to 1936: Vietnam Communist Youth Union, Indochina Communist Youth Union;
From 1937 to 1939: Indochina Democratic Youth Union;
From Nov 1939 to 1941: Indochina Anti-Imperialist Youth Union;
From May 1941 to 1956: National Salvation Youth Union;
From 25 Oct 1956 to 1970: Vietnam Labour Youth Union;
From Feb 1970 to November 1976: Ho Chi Minh Labour Youth Union;
From Dec 1976 to present: Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
3. The restless development of the Union had promptly met the demand of strong youth

5. The Vietnam Union of Students was founded on 9th January 1955.
Since its establishment, the VNUS has held 7 Congresses; the latest one took place in Hanoi in
December 2003. At present, the Association has two provincial-level unions of students.
6. The Vietnam Union of Students is a socio-political organization of Vietnamese students.
It acts as a bridge linking the Vietnam Communist Party – the Government – other organizations
with students, and as an education force at colleges and universities.

7. The Vietnam Youth Federation (VYF) is a broad social organization of Vietnamese youths
and youth organizations.
All Vietnamese youths aged from 15 to 30 regardless of sex, ethnicity, religion, social
background, personal records, place of residence or membership in other Vietnamese youth
organizations, who accept the Constitutions of the Youth Union, can be members of VYF
8. The World Festival of Youth and Students is an international event.
It is organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), a left-wing youth
organization, jointly with the International Union of Students since 1947.
9.The Vietnam Youth Federation has both individual and collective members.
The VYF has two types of membership: collective and individual. The Vietnam Youth Federation
has about 8 million individual members and many collective members (individual members are
not included in the collective members).
10. The HCYU strengthens solidarity.
It develops friendly and equal cooperation with progressive youth organizations, youth and

people in the world striving for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress,
for the future and happiness of the youth.
