Thi Thuy Trang. Her kindly support and continuous advices went through the completion of my
internship report. Her inspiration and faithful judgment had significantly enhanced and developed
my work. Without her motivation and instructions. The report would not have been done properly
and effectively.
As an essential part of internship process, my internship and report would be impossible to be done
without the instructions and support of my instructor Mr Nguyen Tien Manh. So far, I would like to
express my gratefulness to Mr Manh and my colleagues. They always give me useful advices and
tips in my internship. Especially Mr. Manh, his kindness and inspiration give me encouragement
and motivation all the time.
My special thanks approve to my parents for their endless love, care, support, and encouragement

Chap 1: Introduction
1.1 Background information about VinCommerce JSC:

Retail market step by step become a thriving market in Vietnam. With the ambition to become
one of the leaders in Vietnam, Vingroup has set up firm steps to approach this rising market. To
claim retail is also one of key field of Vingroup. Hence, Vincommerce JSC was founded based on
the mergers between five companies in Vingroup retailer and convenient store systems: Vinmart,
Vinmart+, Vinpro, Vincom, and Logistic Sieu Toc on 18 th, December 2015. The merger between
Vincommerce and VinDS also went through distributed to the high ambition to push Vincommerce
to become one of market leader in the region.
1.2 Scale of organization:
As the result of the merger, Vincommerce becomes a multi-field retailer,
with nearly 15000 staff and non-stop growing network with the number of
supermarkets and convenient stores climbed up to over 1500 by July 2016.
1.3 Develop Orientation:
With the strong foundation, strategic potential and the Group’s development strategy in the
retail sector. Vincommerce intends to become the largest retailer in Vietnam market with the retail
system spread all over Vietnam.
Furthermore, Vincommerce expects to expand their business location in order to contribute to
bringing high-qualified products to Vietnamese consumer.
Chapter 2: Overview of HR Division
2.1 HR Division of Vincommerce JSC
A productive and motivated workforce is the key lead to the success of a company.
Vincommerce recognizes the essential of a high-qualified employment in its process to become the
pioneer in Vietnam retail market. At Vincommerce, aside from specific requirement of the
individual position, all the employee have the same basic requirements: relevant expertise,
commitment to professional development, a strong sense of responsibility, and be committed to the
six key values of Vingroup.
Because of the large scale of the company, HR division of Vincommerce is divided into three
division: Recruitment, Compensation and Benefits, and Training. Each of divisions has separated
mission and tasks. Recruitment’s task is recruiting staff for other department included Training and

Compensation and Benefits division. Training is organizing Training course for employees,
preparing documents, curriculums for courses. Compensation and Benefits’ main task is managing
information of employee both occupation and retrenchment, preparing procedure of new
employees, calculating and responding questions about salary for both employees and employers.
2.2 Compensation and Benefits
Compensation and Benefits is a part of Human Resource in Vincommerce. Main jobs of
Compensation and Benefits are reception and processing employee records, both occupation and
have stopped working. In addition, they also payroll and respond all of the employee questions
related to record and salary for the Southern area of Vietnam. At the present, Compensation and
Benefit’s deputy chief takes the right as the chief of Compensation and Benefits. The department
has 13 staff in total, divided into 2 group: one take responsibility for Vinmart, Vinpro, and another
supermarket, remain group is responsible for Vinmart+, Vinpro+, and the system of the convenient
store. All under control of the deputy chief.
Chapter 3: Jobs description
3.1 Jobs in Compensation and Benefits
My duty is a collaborator in Compensation and Benefits division of Vincommerce whose jobs
are entering data of all staff in the company, checking whether the record is complete or not, and
finding out which information and documentation should be added. In addition, I have to manage
and arrange records of employees in the record repository and preparing the procedure for the new
employee.
3.2 Method of fulfill the task in Compensation and Benefits
As the arrangement of the company, my job is a full-time job from Monday to Saturday. The
working day is divided into 2 shift, first shift starts at 8.30 am to 12.30pm. From 12.30 to 1.30 pm
is break time, from 1.30 to 5.30 pm is the second shift. The job is very diversity each day from
entering data to checking profile in the repository. Most of the jobs are done with the assistance of

the computer. To avoid making mistakes in the data entry, all of the necessary information is entered
by the official staff. Thus, my main jobs are checking the records, searching and filtering the
required information as requests from my instructors, Ms. Diep and Mr. Manh. All the data are
divided into small file with separated function and content. I receive the file from instructor then
check them as request. Namely, checking the records which have “the decision to terminate the
contract” is included finding their name on the file, checking the date and their staff ID, then write
their region, staff ID, date of resigned on the records then arrange them in numeral order.
The second jobs are arranging the file in the repository. There are four ranges of profile cabinets,
which is divided into 2 group: profile for occupation employee and stop working employee. They
are numbered in increasing order and the inside-out order. All file are attached in the hanging file
with nametag and staff ID. I receive the record and list from the instructor, find the records in the
list and add the additional documents if they are new and occupational employee or take them out
in case they stop working.
I also assist the instructors in taking the necessary document from the employee, call them to
inform about additional documents.
Chapter 4:
Results
After the internship time, I have gain huge valued experience for my future career. Although
human resources manager are not my major in the university, it has given me a big opportunity to
working in a big corporation with a professional working environment. Furthermore, most of the
theories taught in the university are applied for this jobs. I have improved my teamwork skill,
communication skills, and computer skill, have a chance to working with professional staff by
assisting them, get used to the office working style with high pressure and demand, my problemsolving skill also takes a big leap through responding the question from other staff. Moreover, I also
learn how to manage my time, get a work-life balance, building relationship with others, finding out
my own strengths and weaknesses especially my carelessness. At first, it is inevitable to make some

mistakes, but with the careful and warm instruction from my instructor, Ms. Diep, and my coworkers that help me quickly correct and improve.
4.1 Reviewing Theories:
During the internship time, I find out that the distance between theories and practice are not too
far. When I was graduating getting used to working in a professional office environment, many of
theories taught in university were applied to my jobs. Four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and
writing were combined in my jobs although it is not practiced in the academic ways. Listening and
speaking skill help me in communication with others, they help me get the information quickly and
arrange the information more logically and briefly. Reading and writing skills help me improve the
ability to skimming and scanning, they really useful in checking records and profile.
Communication skills were applied when I spoke to my instructor, co-worker, and other employees
in face-to-face or through the telephone. Besides, problem-solving are an essential skill in my
internship time, with the problem could pop up at any time, and any process. Thus, I always asked
for instructions from my instructor and co-worker to improve and have a bigger picture for my jobs.
4.2 Acquiring practical skills:
The first and foremost valuable skills I gain from the internship time is activeness. I become
more and more active in communicating and teamwork with my colleagues. The intern are very
short, I have to quickly adapt the new environment and new jobs, new tasks, which is forced me to
become more active in order to get more information from books, director, co-worker, my friends…
everybody have their own jobs, tasks, for this reason, I have to be the one who approaches and get
their instructions. Activeness is the key that makes me more confident and adaptable to any
situations and finds out what I should do to complete my own tasks perfectly.
The second skill is the way to manage own tasks and things. Record management is the job that
requires carefulness, the abilities to manage and arrange thing in the shortest time, therefore, always

arrange thing in logical order and neat is the key. This is the most useful skill in the future for my
career.
The last skill is the skill of behavior, it is a short time but the intern still enough for me to learn
how to behave appropriately toward my directors, instructor, senior, co-worker… I have to keep
confident, friendly to express my thought and ideas to directors under no circumstances. In case the
contradiction happened, offering suggestions in the most dedicated and appropriate way is the most
effective. It is essential to express your ideas clearly and understandably, have a high sense of
responsibility in completing your own tasks. Moreover, it is significant to respect your colleagues
and listen to gain more experience from them.
Chapter 5: Summary
In conclusion, I work as a collaborator in Human resources department. I have learned a lot of
experience to make the best preparation for my future career. It not only strengthens my theories but
also gives me the opportunity to work in a modern and professional working environment. I took
responsibility to arrange and check the employee records. My weakness is the lack of activeness
and carefulness, for this reason, I have faced a lot of challenges at first place. I often forget others
name, especially the one I did not spend much time talking, but I have significantly improved in the
internship time. Furthermore, I become more active and confident, I am not the one waited for
instruction from other anymore, but the one who find the way to get that information by myself,
that help me a lot in my future career. Moreover, I have figured out the effective way to manage my
time, spend more time on checking my appearance, cleaner, neater. After the intern time, the gap
between theories and practice is significantly narrowed. It is a big chance to experience a
professional working environment with many things to learn and gain from senior and co-worker. It
is also an opportunity to define my weakness and how to improve them. The best thing is the
motive of all the senior in the company, they are willing to give me careful guidance at any time.
Because of the full-time job, I used to feel too tired, but the warmness from the senior the willingto-help spirit from my co-workers that help me the get over the stresses. The things I gain from the

internship is not only working experience but also experience for my daily life. It gives me a chance
to review my choice and more useful lessons for my future career choice.
