the conical leaf hat is one of the typical features(symbols) of the vietnamese
culture because it cannot be found from anywhere else in the world.the leaf hat is
not only a symbol of vietnamese girls(women),but has also become part of the
spirit of the vietnamese nation.the hat is made from a special kind of bamboo and
young and soft palm leaves.the rims are shaped into conical form.the diameter of
the hat is about 40-45 cm and it is about 25-30 cm hight.the form is covered with
the palm leaves,which are then sewn into all rims.finally,the hat is trimmed and
painted with a coat of attar oil.the leaf hat is used like an umbrellato protect people
from sun or rain.beneath the broad rims of the leaf hat,the girls and women look
pretty and attractive.

one of the most important things i tell you about my family.there are 6b people in
my family:my grandparents,my parents,my younger brother and i.my grandparets
are old.my grandfather used to be an official and retired ten years ago.although he
old,he is healthy and active.now he is interested in gardening.everyday ,he takes
care of the garden carefully,especially ornamental plants and trees,removing bad or
dead leaves.then he water the garden with great care.sometimes he trims some of
the branches and fertilizes them properly.therefore,the garden is always green and
tidy.my grandmother is very kind.she used to be a good teacher and doesn't work
any more.she stays at home and looks after the house ,but she never feels bored
because she has a lot to do.she often take part in social activities such as rasing
funds or collecting money for poor families or poor students to help them continue
with their studies.my father is an electronic engineer.he is 45 years old and works
in a state company.after work,he collects my younger brother and me from
school.he is willing to help my mother if she needs him.after dinner he helps us
with our homework and explains what we don't understand at school.my mother is
a doctor and always busy.she works very hard and sometimes work on the night
shift.everyday she get up early to prepate breakfast for family and some food for
lunch,after work ,she goes to the supermaket to buy food for dinner.my younger
brother is in grate 8 and i am in grate 12.i have to study very hard to keep pace
wuth my classmates.at home,we help our mother to cook milk for the family,after
luncg or dinner ,i wash the dishes and clean the floor.i love all of the numbers of
my family very much,my family is really a happy one because we are always close-knit.how
about your family?i would like to hear something about yours.please write to me as soon as possible.
