TALKING ABOUT YOUR FAMILY
PART1: INTRODUCING ABOUT YOUR FAMILY
*How many people/member are there in your family?

Ex: There are ten people in my family: I have two sisters, one/a brother, my
uncle and aunt, two grandparents and my parents,of course.
There are four people in my family: My wife, my two sons and I/myself (

There are five member in my family. They are my parents and my 2
sisters.
Some vocabulary about relationship in family:
+mother/mum: mẹ, má…
+father/dad : ba, bố
( mum/dad thân mật hơn mother, father, nhưng khi giao tiếp với người gặp
lần đầu không nên dùng mun/dad)
+parents: bố và mẹ
+parent: bố/mẹ
+grandmother: bà
+grandfather: ông
+grandparents: ông và bà
+grandparent: ông/bà
+grandad/ grandpa : ông nội
+grandma: bà nội
+grandson: cháu trai
+grandchild : cháu nội
+uncle: chú, dượng, cậu…
+aunt: cô, dì, mợ…
+son: con trai
+daughter: con gái
+fiancé : chồng chưa cưới
+finceé : vợ chưa cưới
+nephew: cháu trai ( con của anh,chị,em)
+niece: cháu gái, con của anh, chị,em
+father-in-law: bố vợ, bố chồng…
PART 2: TALKING ABOUT YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS:

Ex: I have two older brothers and one (a) olderest sister. I’m the youngest in
your family.
I just have one (a) sister, who’s five years older than me
I’m the middle child : my brother is two years older, and I have a younger
sister who’s finishing university this year.
PART 3: TALKING ABOUT YOUR IMMEDIATE FAMILY OR
EXTENDED FAMILY:
*Immediate family: you, your husband/wife, children, parents, brothers and
sisters
* Extended family: Aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews ,nieces, grandparents,
grandchildren.
Ex: My immedia family is quite small, because I’m an only child. My mum
is one of five children, so I have a lot of cousins, who are kind of like my
brothers and sisters.
There are six people in my immediate family : my parents, my brother and
his wife, my sister and me. I have a lot of other relatives, but they live
inCanada, so we don’t see them often.
PART 4: TALKING ABOUT YOUR CHLDREN:

Ex: I have three kids: 2 girls and a boy. Our eldest daughter has just
secondary school and two younger ones are still primary school.
We have one daughter and my wife’s expecting our second child. We
don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, but we’ll find out in three months
We have a newborn son. He’s just three week old now, so we’re still getting
used things!
PART 5: TALKING ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR
FAMILY
Ex: I’m very close to my family. We have lunch together every weekend
I see my older brother one a week we play tennis or basketball together
I try to spend as much time as possible with my kids.
