There are some adjectives in Spanish that have to be used with the verb ser or “to be”. Refer back to
your vocabulary list for the adjectives that can only be used with the verb ser.
This is how you conjugate the verb ser. It is extremely irregular, so be careful! It doesn’t follow the rules
we learned for other –er verbs, but I promise, once you memorize the pattern, you’ll never forget it!

Remember your nouns and adjectives have to match! Notice in number one, ellas and altas agree, just as
Javier, a boy, is bajo.

This is how you conjugate the verb tener. It is extremely irregular, so be careful! It doesn’t follow the
rules we learned for other –er verbs. It is a stem changing verb, meaning in the tú, él, ella, usted, ellos,
ellas, and ustedes forms, the first “e” changes to an “ie”. Look below and you’ll understand!
