I- Pre-listening:

a- Explain the following idiomatic expressions. Remember idioms cannot be taken literally. They have another meanin
It never rains but it pours =
It rains a lot all the time
When one bad thing happens, a lot of other bad things also happen, making the situation even worse.
This isn’t light rain at all. It’s raining heavily.
It’s raining cats and dogs =
It’s pouring: the rain is heavy.
It’s raining and cats and dogs are out playing.
The rain drops resemble cats and dogs.
b- Match the 2nd idiom with its corresponding picture (in c)
c- Read the following sentence and identify alliteration and metaphor:
Snowstorm blankets in wintry white
Alliteration = repeating the same consonant sound at the beginning of two or more words in close succession.
Imagery = The use of figurative language to evoke images of objects, actions, or ideas. b.
Metaphor = is a comparison that shows how two things that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way.

Today, British civil aviation authorities ordered the
