Task 2:
Sample writing
Last week we had a two day off so
we all decided to go to Ba Vi for a
camping holiday. There were 45 of us.
We met at school gate at 5 and the bus
left at 5.15. It was a long way and we
sang merrily all the way. Nam, who
has sense of humour, sometimes told
us very funny stories and we all
laughed. We arrived at the campsite at
about 7 o’clock. We quickly put up 5
big umbrella tents. After that, some of
us went around to watch wildlife in
the forest. Some went swimming and
fishing in the lake. Then we went back
to our tents to prepare for lunch. We
cooked food over an open fire. After
lunch, we took a short rest. In the
afternoon, we went swimming and
some went fishing again. After dinner
we put up a big fire and prepared for
the evening activities. We sang and
danced around the campfire. We
played games. At 11 p.m. we went
sleeping in the tents. The next
morning we woke up early. After a
light breakfast, we organized some
games with funny and surprising
prizes. After lunch, some of us went
around the place while others took a
nap in the tent. We got on the bus to
leave the campsite at 4 p.m. on

1. They are correlative conjunctions.
This means that they always appear in
pairs. We use them to link equivalent
sentence elements. Remember that the
words, phrases or clauses that put
together must be the same type: nouns
must put together with nouns, verbs
with other verbs …
2. The verbs used with “neither…nor”
are always in the positive form
because these conjunctions play a
negative role in the sentence.

will determine the number (singular or
