Some people think that competitive sports have a positive effect on
the child’s education while others argue it is not so. Discuss the
advantages and disadvantages and opinion
In recent years, due to stiff competition in almost every area some people
opine that competitive sports have a beneficial impact on children’s
education. However, there are some who disagree with the above notion.
Before presenting my view, I intend to explore both sides of the argument.
There are many advantages of competitive sports. The first and foremost

advantage is that such sports prepare children for a society that thrives on

competition. Competition is a normal part of human nature and a part of
everyday life. Secondly, competitive sports provide challenges and help
children deal with such challenges. Finally, these games teach discipline and
help build character and confidence.
On the other hand opponents on competitive sports argue that these sports
lead to stress which is detrimental to the mental health of children. If these
games are played with a win- at-all-cost attitude then sometimes unethical
means are adopted to win and this is definitely not what children should
learn in schools. Competitive sports also have a toxic effect on the relation
among children. Each child may regard others as a rival to his own success
and it leads children to envy winners and laugh at losers.
In my opinion, competitive sports are good but over competitiveness should
be discouraged. The win-at-all-cost mentality should not be there. In
childhood, competition should be introduced gradually and children should
build skills, participate fully and focus on playing rather than winning.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that, competitive sports have more
pros than cons. Students should play competitive sports because they make
them adapt better to this competitive society. However, schools should take
effective measures to avoid destructive competition.
Today, people can work and live in anywhere they want, because of
the improvement of communication technology and transport. Do
advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
It is irrefutable that because of the advances in telecommunication
technology and travel, today’s person can live and work in any part of the
globe. The advantages of this definitely outweigh the disadvantages. In the
following paragraphs I shall put forth my arguments to support my views.
There are many advantages of being able to live and work from anywhere.

First of all, people have more choices of jobs because of technological
advances. Not only can you work in any part of your home country, you can

work for any company in any part of the world by telecommuting. Secondly,
modern wireless technology has made work easier and created more time
for self and family. What is more, people can lessen their work hours and
still do their work more efficiently. Another advantage is that people can
manage more than one work at a time. This is the need of the day as
inflation is touching the sky and people need to earn more and more.
Furthermore, the modern transportation modes like the metro and light
rail have lessened the travel time and also made it more convenient for
commuters. This has also decreased the need for people to live in the cities
to do jobs because now it is possible to work in cities and come back to
peaceful countryside in the evenings because of modern transport systems.
This has decreased the overcrowding of cities which was making cities
unbearable to live in.
On the downside, this is leading to a sedentary lifestyle as people don’t need
to travel. Another disadvantage is that people become so dependent on
technology that any network failure may lead life to come to a standstill.
Nevertheless, I still believe that these minor disadvantages are of no
importance if we look at the plethora of advantages this situation has to
offer.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that, people can live and work
anywhere today and this situation is more of a boon than a bane.
Some school leavers travel or work for a period of time instead of going
directly to the university.
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
( Similar essay – When students leave school and enter into university or
college. The time in between leaving school and entering college, the

experience of work is more important than travelling. To what extent do
you agree omple Answer 1:

A gap year is a year after high school when a student takes time to explore
his or her interests, which usually entails some type of travelling or
working. After the gap year is over, the student begins his or her career. It
has both pros and cons which I shall discuss in this essay.
There are many benefits of taking a year off. Firstly, the student can explore
his interests before deciding on a major. Just passing out of secondary
school, a student does know what his real interests are. A gap year gives
him time to introspect and he may also find something he has never
considered studying before. Secondly, he can save money to
finance his education and ease some burden off his parents’ shoulders.
Higher education is very expensive and some parents cannot afford the full
cost of students’ university fees.
Furthermore, during this year, the student meets different people and
experiences different cultures. As a result his personality develops and he
comes to know about the outside world. Finally, a well planned gap year is
attractive
to
some
admissions
tutors
and
to
future
employers. For example, a student can add his activities of the gap year in
his resume when he applies to the university or for some job after
completion

of
his
education.
This
is
taken
in a positive light by the admissions committee and some job providers.
As every garden has weeds, similarly a gap year also has a downside. A
student may find it difficult to get back to study. A year is a long time and
once that tempo of attending classes and doing home-work etc. is lost, a
student may not feel like studying again. Secondly, if he
starts earning enough, education may seem unimportant. Finally, if a
student doesn’t plan it properly, it may end up as a wasted year.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that a gap year has a lot of
advantages provided it is planned well.
Model Answer 2:
It is true that some school leavers prefer to go travelling or gaining some
working experience first before consider going to University to obtain a

degree as there are more benefit that they can get by working first. While I
agree with the statement, I believe that going university first would be
essential in order to prepare them in a tight competition of surviving in the
modern era.
Generally, many school leavers would leave school because they do not
enjoy academic study. Some has chosen to travel. In this way, they are able
to go to new places, meet a lot of people and hence learn about other
culture. it is by travelling that they will learn how to survive in a certain
place and learn the skill to communicate with other people. Perhaps by
travelling and finding new thing that they will then discover what they

want to do later in life. Apart from travelling, working for a period of time
will also give school leavers the experience of working which is mostly
needed in applying for a professional job. Additionally, if one’s has a
working experience, they may have no difficulty in adapting in real working
life compare to those who do not have working experience at all.
However, there may be disadvantages if school leavers do not consider
going university first. It is undeniable that most of job requirement now
needed a university qualification so, therefore their chance of getting better
job would be lesser. Apart from that, if school leaver would work without
further education, it will restrict their movement and understanding about
the job that they undertake. For instant, if someone working as a carer
without understanding of diseases or medication, then they will only able to
look after the ADLs (Activity of Daily Livings) and will not understand if the
person that they look after will fall sick. Next, one’s may feel comfortable
working, earning money and building their career life that they may forget
about studying in university. In addition, if they wish to go university after a
period of working and travelling, they may have difficulty in adjusting to
university’s assignment and projects.
For the reasons mentioned above, it is not a mandatory that school leavers
to go straight to university in a promise of a better job. It is by travelling
and gaining working experience that they can discover their interest and
career path which hence help them to firmly decide on a proper course to
enroll for further study.

Model Answer 3:
Nowadays, an increasing number of students determine to seek a job or
take a trip for a period of time after graduation from the senior high school.
Yet, there remain some arguments as to whether the overall effect of this
trend has been positive or negative. While there are certainly valid

arguments to the contrary, I personally believe that this movement has both
sides of good and bad and need to be considered more deeply.
One the bright sides, students have to cope with a plenty of stress and
burden when they are in senior high school. Hence, they need to relax
themselves after years of hard study, so travelling or working are two of the
best options. Besides, only through working, high school guarantees could
learn more working experience and marketable skills, which they by no
means acquired from their teacher. Moreover, after traveling around the
world, they can also broaden their horizons, appreciate natural landscape
and even get close to the nature to take a fresh breath.
However, some problems have been identified and need to be accessed. After
a period of working or traveling, many students might forget what they
have learned from their senior high school and find it difficult to start
studying again. Moreover, when students can make money from their hand,
some may feel that they could stand alone without further education. In
fact, university and college will improve their job prospects as well as offer
more opportunity for well-paid jobs and high standard of living. A recently
American report has announced that the average salary of university
guarantees are higher approximately 25 percent than those who do not
have college degree.
To put all in a nutshell, I pen out saying that taking a breaking time period
or go straight to the university is a matter of personal preference. From my
perspective, students may lose their experience and chance in their life if
they do not attend to the university as they can travel or work after
graduation.
As global trade increases between different countries, many daily
necessities are produced in other countries. Such goods are usually

transported a long distance. Do the benefits of this trend outweigh its

drawbacks?Sample Answer 1:
Globalisation has revolutionized our world in many aspects. Now, we don’t
belong to a big planet Earth. We belong to a small global village.
Everything is available everywhere. There are many advantages and
disadvantages of transporting goods over a long distance. In my opinion,
the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
On the positive side, transporting goods over a long distance gives us a lot
of choices. We can taste a variety of fruits and vegetables from all parts of
the world. For example, about ten years ago, we hardly saw kiwi fruit which
is from New Zealand. But, now it has a place on every fruit stand. Earlier,
we had very few shoe brands like Bata and Carona but now the
market is flooded with Reeboks, Nike, Adidas and other foreign brands.
Secondly, many people get employment in this field. Small businesses have a
chance to expand globally and it increases the overall economy of the
country. Finally, it helps in developing good relations between countries
which helps in international co-operation and peace. If countries are
dependent upon one another’s economic success then armed conflict
would be less likely.
On the downside, importing goods can have a negative effect on local
culture. This can be seen in countries such as Japan where imported food
has become more popular than traditional, local produce, eroding people’s
understanding of their own food traditions. A second major disadvantage is
pollution. When goods are transported thousands of miles by road, sea and
air, it increases pollution from exhaust fumes.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that, importing goods has both
merits and demerits but the pros outweigh the cons.
Model Answer 2:
The global trade makes sure that the market of a product is not restricted
within the boundaries of a country. With the advancement of

transportation and communication systems, necessary goods are now
transported to a long distance, even beyond borders. This has brought many
benefits even though its negative aspects cannot be ignored. In my personal
opinion the advantages of this trend far outweigh the disadvantages it has.
First and foremost, global trade ensures the availability of a variety of
products to the consumers. This makes the price competitive and people
have far many options to choose from. This ensures a fair market policy and
availability of different brands and products. For instance, with the
presence of global brands, devices like mobile phones and computers have
become cheaper these days. Moreover, people around the world who
produces any salable goods are no longer deprived from the scarcity of
customers and fair price. The global trade and better transportation have
helped a large population of the world to create and enhance their market
place and thus we have been able to fight the poverty to a great extent. For
instance a carpet made by an Iranian or a toy produced by a small Chinese
company are now available in many other countries and that has created a
huge market for such deprived small business owners. The distance these
products crossed before arriving to any European country is not an issue
here.
Secondly, not all countries can produce everything they need. Different
types of crops, fruits and vegetables are grown in different geographical
locations and to enjoy this variety of foods, they must be transported to a
long distance. In the similar way, people of different countries have different
skills and the type of goods they make have differences. The daily necessities
we get from other countries have more benefits than our attempt to
produce those in our homeland.
On the contrary, if chemicals and preservatives are used in our foods, fruits
or vegetable only to keep them fresh even after a long travel and
prorogated time, that would be dangerous for our health. Some of our daily

necessities are coming from countries where minimal hygiene is not
maintained and eating those food items might be perilous for us. The Final
drawback this system possesses is the loss many traders might face due to
unexpected delay of transportation. However, I believe that the drawbacks

of transporting daily commodities between nations could be controlled with
strict law and regulation.
To draw the conclusion, I quite support the idea of transporting important
daily necessary goods to other countries as it have far more advantages
than the possible demerits it has.

Model Answer 3:

In conclusion, I believe that, importing goods has both merits and demerits
but the pros outweigh the cons.
Model Answer 3:
Nowadays, there is a significant rise in world trade, and this means that
some consumed goods have to be made in other parts of the world, and be
sent over long distance. While this trend has many benefits, I strongly
believe that overall case creates several negative impacts.
There is no doubt that goods which are produced in other countries have
many benefits. First of all, companies are able to minimize the cost of their
production because they have not to pay an expensive price of workers. For
example, most corporations from western countries tend to produce their
goods in Thailand due to the lowest salaries of workers. In addition, it can
advance the bilateral relationship between two countries such as
developing their relationship in politic, economic, health and low policy.
Companies also help the government to decrease jobless in their country.
Evidence of this can be seen that many large industrial cities around the
world have no more jobless. Likewise, long distance transportation also has
some benefits. Firstly, it can create new opportunities for drivers. This is
because all sorts of transports need drivers to deliver their good to retailers.
Next, long distance transportation can add taxes of toll or street which cars
use it. None of this would have had some benefits from these events.
However, the main drawback of producing goods in other countries is that

it is going to decrease taxes of country house. This is because corporations
will pay their taxes to the government where they produce their goods. For
example, most companies from United States of America which produce
their goods in Indonesia have to pay taxes to Indonesian government. As a
result, The United States of America cannot get taxes from their companies.
Whilst, long distance transportation makes bad pollution. This is because
cars which they use to deliver the number of goods cause carbon emission.
For example, most cars which in the street make out bad pollution are
danger for human life. As a result, the number of goods which are
transported over long distance are not really good for human. There is no
more reason that this problem can create carbon emission.

To sum up, producing the number of goods can give many benefits for some
corporations and the government because they can add their profits. On the
other hand, there are many drawbacks which can damage human life. For
this problems, Corporations and the government should make good
environment and do not think just about their profits.
More and more measures to improve the security in large urban areas have
been
introduced in many countries because of the increased crime.
Do the benefits of these measures outweigh the drawbacks?

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
You should write at least 250 words.

IELTS Writing Task 2/ IELTS Essay Sample
Sample Answer 1:
Crime and the fear of crime are very big concerns in big cities and so many
security

measures have been introduced to tackle crime. In this essay I intend to
delve into the
advantages and disadvantages of these methods. The advantages definitely
outweigh the
disadvantages.
One such measure is the security cameras which have become ubiquitous in
many
countries. Earlier they appeared only in banks and at high-security areas
but now they are
seen in public places such as malls, streets, stadiums and transport.
Surveillance cameras

have several benefits. An obvious benefit is that the police can catch
criminals in the act,
thus reducing crime. This has made the streets safer for ordinary people. A
more important
point is that criminals, particularly young offenders or petty criminals are
deterred. They will
not be tempted to carry out crimes, and thus society will be a lot safer.
Cameras are also
cost-effective and unobtrusive. Authorities do not need to spend large
amounts of money
on police.
Another security measure is the computerized data collection of individuals.
This also helps
the police force to operate more effectively. The data can be updated
regularly and data
retrieval is very easy and quick. These methods are also cost effective. Other
Methods like

police patrolling on the roads has also been intensified. These methods
bring a sense of
security in the minds of people.
However, some people object to these measures. The biggest objection
concerns privacy.
Many people feel that they should be free to travel or move around a shop,
mall, street or
country without being photographed or recorded. They feel that being
watched constantly
is like being in a jail, and that ordinary people are losing their freedom
because of these
devices. Even the computerized data collection of individuals can go in
wrong hands.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that, there are definite advantages
to using such
measures, but we need to balance the need for security with respect for the

individual’s
privacy and freedom. If this is done then definitely the advantages outweigh
the
disadvantages.
Model Answer 2:
Currently, crime is becoming an increasing problem in people’s daily lives.
There is a phenomenon that a rising number of measures, like policemen
with guns and the CCTV, are utilized to improve the security in urban areas.
Some people hold a view that it is essential to keep social stability, while
others argue against this idea. This essay will discuss the issue from both
perspectives.
It is true that these ways bring numerous benefits. To begin with, more

illegal individuals will be arrested because of there being more policemen.
Thus, we can have a safer living environment, which makes us comfortable.
In addition, it is an effective method, as it gives a warning to the people who
intend to commit a crime. These potential criminals will give up their
thoughts when they meet with so many facilities of security. As a result, the
crime rate will reduce.
Conversely, there are a good many drawbacks of the measures. First of all, it
might cause some tension in the population. The CCTV, for instance,
supervises not only illegal activities, but also individuals’ privacy. Some boys
and girls cannot even do anything intimate, in particular kiss, because of it.
Moreover, when policemen are fighting with robbers, then can seldom
guarantee that there are no citizens being injured accidentally. It is a threat
to residents’ lives. Last but not least, enhancing the security needs a great
deal of capital. It means we may be not able to invest sufficient money into
other crucial fields, especially education.
In summary, although taking more measures to enhance the security in
cities will bring people some advantages, it seems that its downside exceed
the benefits. As far as I am concerned, it is not a good idea to spend too
much on security, because there many other areas, which are more worth
investing in.

Model Answer 3:
Nowadays, with the gunshot incident becoming more and more common,
the security in urban area has aroused public concern nationwide.
Consequently, more and more measures have been taken to solve this
problem. I my opinion, however, the drawbacks far outweigh its benefits.
People who advocate the existing measures argue that it is the top priority
for people to be alive, suffering from the Sep.11 attacks. They even feel
much safer than before with the current security-guarantee equipment or

personnel around them, despite of numerous inconvenience.
Personally, although great significance should be attached to secure
personal safety, the measure should not be taken to such an extent that they
have an adverse impact on our life. For example, when we are walking in
the street, it is not rare for us to see the concrete barriers lying along the
road in order to prevent a car bomb, especially near some government
places, which sometimes even block the road for passerby.
Besides, I reckon that it is these measures that generate an atmosphere of
danger rather than the real situation itself. Urban life used to be a kind of
easy and relax, while today the feeling changed, owing to the enforcement
of personnel or electronic surveillance, which also results in an invasion of
privacy.
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, the security should not be improved
by such kinds of measures at the cost of inconvenience of public. We would
better tackle this problem in a more rational way, taking both pros and
cons into consideration.
Model Answer 4:
There is a saying that a harmonious society usually comes with appropriate
regulatory rules. This is probably the main reason that majority of cities,
with the increasing inflows of people, have been imposing strict security
measures. However, some argue that this is not the best way in lessening the
criminal rate. From my way of thinking, the bright side it brings, needless to
say outweigh its drawbacks.

To begin with, it is true that implementing more regulatory laws will cause
not only more expenses, but also probably infringe personal privacy.
Therefore some argue that instead spending more money on hiring more
policemen and installing extra monitor devices such as CCTV, the authority
should focus on some essential areas like education and healthcare.

However, There is no denying that fact that these strict measures, at least to
some extent, play a key role in maintaining the order of the urban areas.
For instance, by installing monitoring cameras around the street corners,
offenders will have a second thought before committing an offence. And at
the same time, it will also signal a warning message to people. Finally, it is
also help to develop and increase the safety consciousness of people.
Next, the image of the urban town can also benefit because the improving
security measures are one of the chief factors in cutting down the criminal
rate in these urban districts. For example, a new regulation to curb selling
and consuming alcohol after 7:00pm in public places has been taken effect
just couple of weeks ago in Singapore. This greatly exemplified that some
restrictions can lower down criminal occurrences and create a better
picture of the city.
To sum up, although there are some sacrifices in order to improve the
security in the urban area, I still believe that its boon which bring to us far
outweigh its bane.
Model Answer 5:
Nowadays, it is proved the fact that into increasing population the degree
of insecurity increase. This can be easily seen in large urban areas, and for
this reason many countries have implemented security measures designed
to decrease crime rate. In my opinion, I do consider these measures
outweigh the drawbacks (if there is any).
First of all, if a society is to function well, then the individuals have to feel
secure. No person can feel comfortable and performed as well as possible
surrounded by crimes acts. This is a sufficient reason to develop security
system as much as needed to protect citizens.

On the other hand, if we take into consideration money spent on trials, it is
quite possible to realize that how true is the old said “it is better prevent” a

crime than punish it. Besides this, there are many damages that can not be
repaired. I refer to people impairments, destructions of site seeing and even
economical damages.
However, I think to the security feeling as to a mental status that can not be
quantified. From my point of view, it provides a good background
environment for personal and social development. In this light, I do not see
any drawback of the security measures whatever it costs.
To sum up, I am of the opinion that security measures, taken for decreasing
crime, are invaluable. Their benefits outweigh the drawbacks any they are.
Model Answer 6:
As an increasing rate of crimes, a growing number of actions have been
carried out for the urban areas’ security. Some people think those measures
affect us positively, while some others say those measure have more bad
influences on us. In this essay, I will discuss about that.
It is clear that taking measures to protect security in urban areas makes
contribution to the society and ourselves. Basically, it can protect our life.
For instance, traffic monitoring tools have been installed in many cities
which prevent some traffic accidents successfully. As a result, less people get
injured even dead for traffic accidents. On the other hand, actions to
improve urban security could attribute to the decrease of criminals. One
report from a government said that, the numbers of thieves reduced nearly
12% for advanced systems against thieves the city had set.
However, those measures also have passive effects on residents. First, hightech tools may impact on the convenience of our life passively. A survey
showed that about 30% off people who lives in cities think that there are a
great numbers of systems in cities which make their life inconveniently.
Second, some systems would damage our environment. For example, voices
from alarm systems add noise, particularly at night, those noise would

destroy our sleep while there is no theft, just a animal or something touch it

carelessly.
In conclusion, as far as I am concerned, the security should not be improved
by such kinds of measures at the cost of inconvenience of public. We would
better tackle this problem in a more rational way, taking both pros and
cons into consideration.
International tourism has become a huge industry in the world. Do the
problems of international travel outweigh its advantages?

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
You should write at least 250 words.

IELTS Writing Task 2/ IELTS Essay Sample
Sample Answer 1:
It is irrefutable that international tourism has taken mammoth dimensions.
In fact it
has become the backbone of many economies of the world. This situation
has both
pros and cons. In my opinion, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
International tourism can have many benefits for individuals. The most
important
benefit is that tourism provides regular employment for many local people
who might
otherwise be unemployed. They can find work in restaurants or hotels, or
with tourist
agencies as guides or drivers, for example, and earn regular wages. This, in

turn,
means that they may be able to save money and improve their standard of
living. The

second reason is that tourists spend money in the country and this allows
local
businesses such as restaurants, bars and taxi companies to flourish. In turn,
other
businesses, food suppliers or petrol stations, for instance, may be
established in order
to provide services to support the companies which cater for tourists. In
other words,
the whole economy of the region develops.
A third reason is that in order for tourists to be able to visit remote areas,
roads,
airports and hotels have to be built and local people also benefit by being
able to use
these new facilities. Furthermore, when communications improve, it
becomes
possible for other industries to move into the area, bringing with them more
employment opportunities and increased prosperity. A final reason why I
am in favour
of tourism is that visitors from outside bring fresh ideas and different ways
of doing
things to the local community. Consequently, local people may learn from
tourists.
Likewise, visitors learn about the local people and culture, and return home
with a
deeper understanding of the host country.
On the other hand, that there are some problems associated with
international
tourism. Firstly, there is the increasing crime rate. Some locals see tourists
as easy
prey because, not only are they in unfamiliar territory and therefore less

able to take

care of themselves, but also they carry visible items of wealth, such as
cameras and
jewellery which can be disposed of quickly for a profit. Another major
problem is
health. With greater mobility comes greater danger of spreading
contagious diseases
around the world. Also to be considered is the natural environment, which
can be
seriously threatened by too many visitors. Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, for
example,
is in danger of being destroyed by tourists and there are plans to restrict
visitors to
some of the more delicate coral reefs.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that international tourism has
both
advantages and disadvantages. However, the advantages outweigh the
disadvantages.
Model
Answer:
With the advancement of faster transportation system, especially air travel,
people nowadays go to other countries for personal, business, recreational,
official, health and educational purposes. The air travel is cheaper than the
past and worldwide communication system, particularly Internet, has
opened the doors of international tourism. An overwhelming number of
tourists travel to different countries and this number is increasing every
year. No doubt the international tourism is a very large industry and has
many negative aspects. However I believe that the advantages it offers well

exceed the demerits it has.
First, due to the global trade many companies have multiple offices in
different geographical locations. Businessmen and office executives can
these days visit other branch offices for their meeting, training and business
needs. This opens the possibility of running a global business or working in
a multinational company which has a huge positive impact on a country’s
economy. International travel has made it possible for some medium

entrepreneurs and business owners to expand their business opportunity
beyond the border. For instance, a huge number of medium size importers
nowadays from my country visit China and some European countries to
personally explore the business opportunity there. They even get some
business ideas by visiting these countries and can make arrangement to
export locally made goods. This, in my opinion, is a great advantage that
the international travel offers.
Second, people can go to a country where medical treatment is better than
his own country. For instance, a large number of people visit developed
countries each year for better treatment and this is a positive development
that ensures quality healthcare for many people. Similarly people travel to
other countries to enjoy their holidays and this is a great opportunity for
learning about diverse cultural aspects. With the increasing international
tourism industry people have better understanding of foreign cultures and
it help reducing the gap among nations. This is an important aspect for
maintaining world peace as more people travel and experience other
cultures, more their misunderstanding about others reduces.
Finally, tourism industry has created a huge job opportunity and countries
like Maldives, the Bahamas, Thailand, Indonesia, Anguilla, Aruba and
Macau depends on this industry.
On the other hand, international tourism has some negative aspects that

cannot be overlooked. Damage in bio-diversity, increasing environment
damage, more garbage production, influence of foreign culture and threats
of terrorism are some aspects that the booming international tourism
industry creates. The amount of danger the air-fuel causes is an alarming
issue for many environmentalists.
In conclusion, the massive international tourism industry and ever
increasing international travels have some environmental, cultural and
terrorism related issues. However the opportunity and potentiality it has
already created far outweigh the disadvantages of it. I believe that in this
era of globalization international travel is a timely demand that will
increase with time.

Model Answer 3:
International tourism has brought enormous profit to many places. At the
same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the
environment. Personally, I felt that the advantages of international tourism
outweigh the disadvantages.
It is irrefutable that there are some problems associated with this industry.
Firstly, developing of tourism influence not only living cost but also housing
might increase significantly. As a result, it will put pressure on local
resources. Secondly, tourism creates pollution and waste, it will disturb on
local health. Another problem is the negative effects on the natural
environment. For example, the beautiful beaches are spoiled by the building
of hotels. Beside that local traditional and cultures may be endangered.
Nonetheless, international tourism can have many benefits for individuals.
The most important benefit is that tourism provides regular employment
for many local people. For example, they can find work in restaurants on
hotels, or with tourists agencies as guides or drivers, and earning regular
wages. It means that they maybe also to save money and improving their

standard of living, so it will decrease local people burden from negative
impact of international tourism. In other words, the whole economy of the
region develops.
To put it in a nutshell, I pen down saying that international tourism might
have some effects. However, its pros outweigh its cons. On balance, I am
convinced that a tourism place who has a good planning not only giving
lucks on economic growth and improving level of living, quality, and local
system communities but also maintenance and raising of environment will
be better.

Model Answer 4:
International tourism has been consolidating its position as the primary
export industry around the world. A recent study conducted by the World
Travel Organization (WTO) has been revealed that international tourism
industry account for around eleven percent of the world gross goods and
services export. However, when it comes to whether its boons which brought
by the rapid development of the international tourism outweigh its banes,
people hold divergent opinions. Some believe that the benefits outweigh the
drawbacks, and personally, I agree with this point of view.
Of course, international tourism may have some chilling effects on social
and environmental sections. To begin with, a huge number of inflows of
tourists may cause a disturbance upon the lives of many local inhabitants. It
is universally acknowledged that tourism is a manifestation of human
desire for variety and exploration, as a consequence, some snooping and
prying are inevitable, which in turn cause anxious of local residents.
Moreover, vast touring population among countries may severely
undermine the biodiversity and ecological equilibrium. The unbiodegradable garbage which left behind by tourists plus the consumption
of mineral fuel during the journey put the environment of the destinations
and beyond on the line.

Nevertheless, international tourism can spawn even greater boons on
individual, communal, and social levels. First and foremost, it provides an
opportunity for travelers to experience exotic culture in person. In my
opinion, overseas travelling is a multiple sensory experience which tourists
can see, hear, touch and even smell the things at the destination spots. This
is far more interactive than just peering through a TV or screen of
computer. In addition, international tourism substantially boosts the
development of the regional economics. Take China as an example, in the
past three decades, international tourism has brought about vast number
of employment opportunities in sections like retail sales, hospitality and
transportation, which in turn rockets the revenue of tax of the Chinese
authority. Furthermore, the hands on experiences which gathered from

oversea travelling has a positive impact on bettering the negative image of
the destination country and in return benefits international understanding.
To conclude, I concede that international tourism has some negative
impacts, but to say its merits far outweigh its demerits is also reasonable.
On balance, I am convinced that while boosting the development of the
international tourism, it is also necessary to encourage the interactions
between tourists and local residents in which improving mutual
understanding and respect and at the same time promote such touring as a
more cultural and environmental sight seeing practice.

Sample Answer 1:
In order to choose the right type of secondary school, you need to weigh all
of the options
open to you. It is a highly debated issue whether private secondary schools
are good or bad
for society. In the following paragraphs, I intend to delve into the pros and
cons of private
secondary schools.

On the positive side, most of the private schools offer smaller classroom size
and so the
child can receive more individual attention from teachers. It is a well known
fact that
secondary education is very important because in most cases the career is
based on
secondary school subjects. Secondly, private secondary schools offer better
academic and
extracurricular programs. As a result there are lower drop-out rates.
Finally, there is less oncampus violence in private schools as compared to government schools.
This is because
students realise that their parents are spending huge sums of money on
their schooling and
so they are more serious in studies.
On the downside, there is less diversity in private schools as compared to
public
government) schools. As a result children will meet fewer peers from diverse
backgrounds
because of the tuition fee. Secondly, private secondary schools don’t

conform strictly to
educational regulations. So you have to do a lot of effort to select the right
school for your
child.
Finally, these schools are very expensive and consequently increase the gap
between the
rich and the poor. The children from affluent backgrounds can afford these
schools and get
quality education because of which they get into the best universities for
higher education.
The disadvantaged children of poor backgrounds find it very difficult to
compete with them
in all spheres of life. So, these create an imbalance in society.
