I woke up too late,
I stepped on my dog,
So I bumped my head.
And he bit my leg.
Caught in my covers,
I hopped to the kitchen.
I fell out of bed.
Mom dropped my egg.

“I missed the school bus
I knew five questions.
“And ran all the way.
The rest I just guessed.
“My teacher called out,
My spelling was wrong.
“No recess today!”
I sure failed that test.

I had no lunch money.
“I sat on the stairs,
My stomach felt bad.
“My head on my knees.
No hot lunch for me.
“The new kid sat down.
The lady looked mad.
“Let’s go climb some trees.”

We walked to the park.
We talked all the way.
I made a new friend.
That after all that,
And I’d like to say,
I had a great day.
