- Reading a text about where Thuy lives to understand the details and practice
country vocabulary.
- Ss can understand the text about where Thuy lives and practice country
vocabulary.
- Ss improve their reading and speaking skills.

Ss play freely.
T shows a picture of a house “What are there around the house ?”, let’s start the
lesson.


III. New lesson.
Step1: Pre-reading
1. Vocabulary. (Slide 4)
- lake (n): cái hồ (picture)
- yard (n): cái sân (real obj)
- ‘river (n): sông (Mê Kông là tên của 1 )
- ho’tel (n): khách sạn (picture)
- park (n): công viên (picture)
- tree (n): cây (real obj)
- ‘flower (n): hoa (real obj)
- ‘rice ‘paddy (n): cánh đồng lúa (picture)
* Check: Matching (with pictures) (slide 5)
* Set the scene: (slide 6)
- Look at this picture, Who is this? this is Thuy and this is her house. She is a
student in grade 6. She introduces her house. Let’s read the text.
2. Open predictions. (Slide 7)
- Now you’ll guess 5 places there are around Thuy’s house.
Example:
- Dung, you read or you guess? ( guess)
- You guess 5 places or 3 places? ( 5 places)
Ss play in 2 groups: go to the board to write their predictions.
T asks ss to listen and checks their predictions.
T gives answers.
Step 2: While - reading.
Activity 1: Read and check predictions. (slide 8 )
Ss read the text p.62, listen to the CD and correct their predictions.

Activity 2: Answer the questions. (slide 9)
T gives 6 questions on the screen.


- How many questions are there? ( There are 6)
- Are there any new words? (Yes/No)
Now you read the text again and try to answer the questions.
Ss read the text again and answer the questions (work in pairs)
* Correction: Chiếc nón kì diệu (slide 10, 17 -22)
T gives isntructions: Đây là trò chơi được rất nhiều bạn yêu thích. Với trò chơi này
chúng ta sẽ chơi thành 2 đội. Mỗi đội lần lượt chọn một số bất kì mà các em thích.
Mỗi số tương ứng với 1 câu hỏi. Trả lời đúng câu hỏi, cô giáo sẽ quay chiếc nón kì
diệu, kim chỉ vào số điểm nào đội của em sẽ được số điểm đó.
T models.
- Các em chọn số hay chọn câu hỏi? ( Số)
- Mỗi số tương ứng với một hay nhiều câu hỏi? ( 1 câu hỏi)
- Khi nào cô giáo quay chiếc nón kì diêu? ( Trả lời đúng câu hỏi)
- Nếu đội của em tra lời sai cô giáo có quay không? (Không)
Ss play in 2 groups: G1 - G2
* Answer:

e. She lives in a house (near a lake)

Step 3: Post - reading
1. Picture drill. (slide 11-13)
T elicits Ss to make examples: ask and answer about name of things.
- What’s this/that? + It’s a door.
- What are these/those? + They are windows.
T runs through the 6 pictures. Then T models
Let ss practice: T - WC; half- half; open pairs, close pairs.
2. Write it up: A3 (p.63) (Slide 14)
T runs through the paragraph and the gaps.
Ss fill in the gaps with the correct words by replacing the pict
Then Ss go to the board to write.

5. Where does Thuy live?
6. Is there a lake near Thuy’s house?
- Correct.
IV. Summary.
Ss retell: Read a text about where Thuy lives and practice country vocabulary.
V. Homework. (slide 15 )
- Learn the vocab by heart.
- Write about what there are around your house.
