A. Before the 20
th
century,hobbies were
something that only
wealthy
people had time and
money to enjoy.The present-day interest in
hobbies is the product of more free time for far
more people, resulting from shortened working
hours and greater
prosperity
. All hobbies involve
activities,but some involve more than others. It
is collecting things that is relatively passive
compared to doing creative work. Whatever the
activity level, all types can require high levels of
expertise
.
a. Trước thế kỉ 20, thú vui riêng là những cái mà chỉ người
giàu có mới có thời gian và tiền bạc để thưởng thức. Sự
quan tâm đến thú vui riêng ngày nay là sản phẩm thời
gian rỗi nhiều hơn và dành cho nhiều người hơn, là kết
quả từ việc giờ làm việc ngắn hơn,và sự thịnh vượng
nhiều hơn. Tất cả thú vui riêng liên quan đến mọi sinh
hoạt,nhưng có cái liên quan nhiều hơn cái khác. Chính
việc sưu tập đồ vật tương đối thụ động so với làm công
việc sáng tạo. Dù hoạt động ở mức độ nào đi nữa,tất cả
các loại thú vui riêng có thể cần đến sự thành thạo.

B. A good coin collection is an
investment
and can
be
profitable
in a number of ways. As a pastime,
it provides hours of pleasure and the satisfaction
of watching the collection grow. Moreover, coins-
old, new, foreign, or
domestic
- will always be
worth at least as much as the metals of which
they are made, and these are often
precious
metals. Books about coins and coin collecting,
which can usually be found in public libraries, will
help a beginner start a collection.

C.Collecting shells is another interesting
hobby.Many young collectors who take it up
develop a serious interest in science as a result.
It is little care that a shell collection requires.
Shells, the color of which is normally
permanent
,
last almost
indefinitely
without being attacked by
insects. Moreover, most kinds of shells do not
break easily. Large shell collections are built up
by collectors’ exchanging originals or
duplicates
.
It is only when a collection is properly labeled
that it has real value. Each label must show
exactly where the shells were found. Notes on
tide conditions and weather might also be
included.

C. Sưu tập vỏ sò là 1 thú vui riêng thú vị khác nữa.
Nhiều người sưu tập trẻ tuổi thích công việc này kết quả
là họ phát huy 1 sở thích nghiêm túc về khoa học. Sưu
tập vỏ sò rất ít quan tâm hơn. Vỏ sò, màu sắc của nó
thường vĩnh cữu, bền lâu hầu như vô hạn, không bị sâu
bọ tấn công.

Hơn nữa,hầu hết vỏ sò không dễ vỡ. Bộ sưu tập vỏ sò
lớn được xây dựng bằng việc trao đổi các bản gốc hoặc
các bản sao. Chỉ khi nào 1 bộ sưu tập được dán nhãn, nó
mới thật sự có giá trị.Những ghi chú về tình hình thủy
triều và thời tiết cũng được kèm theo.
