I. THÀNH LẬP DANH TỪ: (FORMATION OF NOUNS)
A Danh từ đơn (single nouns)
1. tiếp đầu ngữ + danh ừ (Prefix + N)
after + N : afternoon, afterthought (ý ngĩ muộn mằn) afterimage (dư ảnh)
dis + N : disregard, displeasure, dishonest (bất lương)
fore + N : forefinger, foreman (đốc công), forehead (trán)
in + N : inaction, independence, injustic (bất công) .
mis + N : misfortune (bất hạnh), misbehavior(hạnh kiểm xấu) over + N
: overtime, overcoat, overman (đốc công)
pre + N : preface, precaution, prepayment (trả tiền thuốc)

A Tinh từ đơn (single adjective)
1. Danh từ + tiếp vị ngữ "(N + suffix)
N + y : airy, foggy, grassy, leafy (nhiếu lá)
N + full: fearful, hopeful, painful, careful (cẩn thận)
N + less: fearless, hopeless, painless, careless (bất cẩn)
N + ous : mountainous, dangerous, studious, courageous
N + al(ial) : accidental, formal, colonial, industrial
N + ant (ent) : distant, vacant, confident, frequent
N + ic : artistic, democratic, patriotic
N + ly : friendly, childly, manly, daily, weekly

1. động từ hình thành từ danh từ:
Be + N : behead (chặt đầu), befriend (đối xử tốt ), befoul (làm nhơ nhuốc), belabour
(đánh nhừ tử)
Em + N : embattle (dàn trận), emblason (tán dương), embed (gắn vào), embody
(llà hiện thân của)
En + N : endanger (gây nguy hiểm enforce (làm có hiệu lực), enframe (đóng khung)
Out + N: outflank (đánh bọc sườn), outface (nhìn chằm chằm), outdistance (vượt xa)
N + en : heighten, lenghen
N + ize : criticize, pasteurize (tiệt trùng), standardize
2. động từ hình thành từ tính từ
RE + adj. - : refine (tinh chế), renew (làm mới lại)
adj. + en : brighten, widen, shorten, ripen
adj. + ize : industrialize, familiarize, modernize
3. động từ hình thành từ động từ khác
be + V : beget (sinh ra); bespeak (đặt trước), besprinkle (rải, rắc)
