I. Aims :
- By the end of the lesson, the students are able to scan reading for specific information.
- By the end of the lesson, the students will know more about celebrations in the world.
II. Lexical items :
- observe - procession - repentance - offering
- resolution - haunt
III- Structures
- New Year’s Day is observed on the first of January
- As preparations, people are busy buying things, preparing traditional food,….
- On New Year’s Eve, people make offerings to their ancestors, …
IV- Teaching aids:
- textbook - picture / drawings

- Skill – based ( reading), communication approach.

1. Warm-
up & lead-

Games: listen and draw.
- divide the class into two teams, A and B.
- Call for two good drawers from the two
teams.
- Ask the drawers to come up to the board.


- whisper one of the following
words/phrases one by one to the drawers’
ears.
- the drawers then draw picture(s) to
present the word/ phrase and the members
from either team A or B at their place can
call out the word/phrase. The first correct
call counts.
- A ward on point for each correct word/
phrase.
- Keep a running total of points for each
team on the board.
- The with more points wins.
Lead-in:
- Get SS to look at the pictures their
friends have drawn and predict the topic
of the reading text.
