2. Go to the PCPitstop folder, such as seen in Figure 8-4, by
following this path:
C:\Program Files\PC Pitstop

3. Delete the entire Optimize folder. See Figure 8-5 for an
example.

Then complete the full removal of PC Pitstop Optimize by removing
the registry entry:
1. Click the Start menu and click Run, such as Figure 8-6
shows.

2. Type regedit, such as shown in Figure 8-7, and click OK.

3. Once the Registry Editor opens, navigate to the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PCPitstop
Figure 8-8 shows an example.
4. Delete the Optimize folder, such as shown in Figure 8-9.
Now that you’ve completely removed the software, you need to rein-
stall it.You can refer Chapter 3 for installation instructions.

Can’t Communicate with the Internet
Problem:
You are able to access the Internet from a web browser; however, PC
Pitstop isn’t able to access the Internet. Figure 8-10 shows an exam-
ple of a prompt you may receive.

Fixes:
If you have active firewall protection on your PC, it’s likely the prob-
lem. If your firewall software alerts you to an Internet access attempt
from Optimize, make sure you authorize the access.
In addition, the Windows XP firewall utility may be preventing
access; therefore you should ensure Optimize is given authorization
to access the Internet.
You’ll need to set your firewall to allow
www.pcpitstop.com. The
corresponding IP is 64.29.201.21.
1. Open the Control Panel, as seen in Figure 8-11.

If the Start menu is in classic look, the Control Panel is
under Settings on the menu.
2. Click Security Center, as Figure 8-12 shows, if the Control
Panel is in category view; otherwise ignore this step and
move to the next step.
