Trang 4
With the development of the internet, online shopping is the ideal choice for everyone. Nowadays, as people are becoming busier and busier with their work and personal life, online shopping has grown into a global trend since it provides outstanding advantages to the environment and employment patterns in the short term that traditional shopping can’t dream to compare with. However, despite all of the listed benefits above, online shopping still cause more drawbacks than benefits in the long run.
Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce that allows consumers to directly buy goods or services from sellers throughout the Internet using a web browser or a mobile app. Consumers will find a product of interest by directly visiting the retailer's website or by searching among alternative vendors using a search engine, which displays the same product's availability and pricing at different e-retailers. And today, group 1 will discuss with the class about the popularity of shopping online platforms these days and its advantages as well as disadvantages.

1.2. The growth of these platform (outstanding development after covid pandemic)
Online shopping has become more popular than ever in recent years. Platforms like Shopee, Lazada, Tiki,... or Amazon, Alibaba,... have become familiar names to people around the world. Thanks to the advent and development of these platforms, shopping has become increasingly easy and convenient.
Especially when the epidemic broke out, human activities were almost frozen. Social distancing and often staying at home have consumers change their shopping habits from traditional shopping to more online consumption.
According to statistics over the years, interest searches on many users have increased significantly. In early 2020, when people began to stay at home to prevent the epidemic, websites specializing in departmental business grew 45% of traffic compared to the previous quarter. When social distancing is eased, this trend remains stable with an increase of 10% at the end of the year. In the first quarter of 2021, only online grocery was the only category that continued to grow positively with 13%. Google searches related to the keyword “grocery store” increased 223% in the second quarter.
In 2022, the number of Vietnamese people shopping online will reach more than 51 million, up 13.5% over the previous year, total spending on online shopping will reach 12.42 billion USD.
Additionally, according to Statista, revenue from e-commerce is expected to have an annual growth rate of 14.56%, resulting in an expected market volume of $1,365.00 billion by 2025.

Trang 6
Therefore, the strong development of these platforms has made online shopping to the throne, become an important indispensable part in people living life.

Trang 7
Online shopping is becoming the easiest way of shopping. When we look back about 10 years ago, people didn't even know about online shopping. But today it has become a
trend. People find this more convenient than other ways of shopping.
As we compare online shopping with shop to shop purchasing, then online shopping is a better option. It has lots of benefits. Nowadays people are quite intelligent, they prefer online shopping instead of other purchasing options because online shopping has lots of advantages. Some of the advantages of online shopping are as follows:
2.2. More Payment Methods
Another benefit of online shopping is that you can pay for things differently than you can at a physical store. Some retailers support PayPal or Bitcoin, for example.
2.3. Variety of Products
Online shopping provides you more options than other purchasing options. It means that you have a large variety of products to buy. Online shopping is more beneficial in electronic products shopping. Latest Electronics products like mobiles are available on net before market.
Most physical stores have a limited array of products. They can only hold so many items, and there are often many policies affecting the availability of products. For

Trang 8
example, there might be a certain item that is only available to those versions of the business that exist in the mall.
Shopping online allows you to find many products that you wouldn’t be able to find in a physical store. You can also buy products that may not logically go together like candy canes and quilts.
2.4. Regular Offers/ Discounts
Nowadays online shopping comes with a bargain option also. You can set your price on the net then if the product can be sold for that price then the site can give you your desired product. The most important advantages/benefit of online shopping is that you can buy your desired products at a very low cost then it is available in the market.
2.5. Convenience
Shopping online is convenient. You don’t need to get dressed and drive to your favorite store. You can easily visit their website, find the product you want and buy it without getting out of your pajamas. It’s also convenient because you don’t need to wait for the store to open.
If you work irregular hours or are very busy, then you probably don’t have the time to visit the store. Shopping online allows you to buy things without hurting your schedule.
2.6. Customer Review
Online shopping is how you can access customer reviews for any product you are considering purchasing. This helps in more informed shopping. Are you hesitant while buying a product? Just consult online reviews from past customers; you can make a better decision.
2.7. Discreet Shopping
Physical stores often make it difficult to buy certain items. For example, buying lingerie without getting a few awkward stares is nearly impossible. There are many instances of this, and sometimes you might feel embarrassed for no reason.

Trang 9
Shopping online gives you privacy because you won’t have people looking at you while you shop. Not only that, but the receipts are usually made so that no one will know what you bought.

Trang 10
In recent years, there has been a growing in shopping online. This presents both pros and cons, however, in my opinion, its benefits are much more significant than the drawbacks. On the one hand, shopping online brings to consumers some disadvantages. Firstly, since people are unable to touch or to see the products they want to buy in reality, it is always hard for them to examine the quality of these products. As a result, they might purchase the items with poor quality. In addition to that, as the consumers do not feel happy with the items they had bought online, they tend to abandon these products or don't use them at all. This is definitely a waste of money. Moreover, buyings things on the Internet often makes people confused since there are a great number of shops on the Internet. To be specific, buyers might see the same products in several shops, but the prices for these items can be very different, ranging from reasonable to prohibitively expensive. Consequently, they will not know which products they should purchase.
3.1. Can Be More Expensive
Online purchases can cost you more for several reasons. Even though many major online retailers offer free shipping, they generally require you to meet a minimum to qualify for it. In addition, online retailers may use several strategies to encourage you to buy more items or more expensive items than if you were shopping in person.
3.2. Leads to Longer Wait Times
When you shop at a brick-and-mortar store, you can walk away with the product you bought and use or wear it right away. Online shopping forces you to wait days, weeks, or even longer for your order to arrive. If you're in a time crunch and need a product right away, such as a gift, going to an in-person shop may be a better option for you.
3.3. Product Description
There may be potential problems with the seller when you buy online. They can describe a product wrongly, or in a way that is misleading, as they have almost total control

Trang 11
over how a product is portrayed. They may also be more difficult to communicate with than your local store.
3.4. It's Impersonal
There is very little scope for building any sort of rapport with the seller when you go to buy a product online. This makes the process very impersonal. There is no shop owner or employee to give you specialist advice, help, or tips. Neither is there generally someone to give you follow-up help in person, should you have any problems with your product.
3.5. It's Too Easy
There are all sorts of potential psychological and emotional problems associated with the ease with which people can buy online. Impulsive buying, addiction, overspending, and debt-related issues can all be exacerbated. Also, it is easier for people to buy products when intoxicated, or for children to purchase unwanted items using their parent's credit cards and online accounts without permission.
3.6. Fraud
Fraud and identity theft are a constant threat when buying over the internet. There are also major issues concerning the privacy of the data that is supplied to retailers by buyers.
3.7. Can't Inspect or Try Products
You can't try out the product in advance when you buy online. Neither can you touch a product, or see it close up with your own eyes. This can be a considerable disadvantage when it comes to certain types of products.
3.8. No Bartering or Negotiation
Local shops can sometimes provide scope for negotiating a deal with the owner, especially if you are a regular customer. This is rarely an option online.

Trang 12
4.1. Don't let the store make you buy more
This method will take some time, but because it is an online purchase, you can take advantage of your free time to compare the price and quality of the product at different stores. Then, you can choose affordable products. Besides, you can invite friends and relatives with the same needs for shared products to qualify for free shipping.
4.2. Know how to save delivery time
If you intend to buy products online with a long delivery time, you should plan to buy the product early to ensure timely delivery.
4.3. Be alert to the store's product description
In addition to the store's product description, you can refer to the purchases and product reviews of previous buyers before making a purchase decision.
4.4. Talking more with the store about the product you want to buy
While no one offers direct advice when you have a product problem, you can message the store to resolve your concerns. In addition, with the product description, you can ask the opinions of relatives, friends, around about the size, color, ...
4.5. Don't buy unconcernedly
You should have a list of essential items and the items that can be purchased more than your budget before each sale. It therefore helps you buy more economically. In addition, you should not let children have early exposure to online purchases, or you can limit your shopping budget for young children.
4.6. Avoid cheating from online shopping
You should choose reputable e-commerce sites such as amazon.vn, shopee, tiki, … to be assured of information.

Trang 13
4.7. Choose stores that have a product return or refund policy.
To ensure quality, you should choose a store to check the goods before receiving them. Besides, you should consider the quality and price which suit your needs
This is also quite difficult when you buy products in a long distance. To make it easier, you should choose e-commerce sites that have a return/refund policy such as shopee, lazada, ...

Trang 14
Online shopping and even everything has its own limitations and benefits, so it is entirely up to the user how they use them. Therefore, one should always use the things by keeping the bad effects in mind.
Today the number of people who shop online is comparatively high. The growing trend of online shopping has turned many people towards purchasing things online. However, many still prefer to go to physical shops to buy things. Among online shopping and offline shopping, people can choose the way that suits them better.
