b, Các cấu trúc câu hỏi WH thường gặp
+ Nguyên tắc đặt câu hỏi
- Nếu chưa có trợ động từ thì phải mượn trợ động từ: do / does / did
Ví dụ: What does he do?
- Nếu trợ động từ sẵn có (am / is / are / can / will / shall / could / would) thì đảo chúng ra trước chủ ngữ,
không mượn do / does / did nữa.
Ví dụ: What will you do this weekend?
+ Cấu trúc thông thường của loại câu hỏi Wh- questions hay cịn gọi là câu hỏi lấy thơng tin
Từ để hỏi thường được viết ở đầu câu hỏi. Từ để hỏi có thể làm chủ ngữ (subject) hay tân ngữ (object) và
bổ ngữ. Đối với dạng câu hỏi này thì câu trả lời không thể đơn giản là yes, no mà phải có thêm thơng tin
kèm theo.
- Who hoặc What: Câu hỏi chủ ngữ
Đây là dạng câu hỏi khi muốn biết chủ ngữ hay chủ thể của hành động

Ví dụ:
Who lives in London with Daisy? (Ai sống ở London cùng với Daisy vậy?)
Who is opening the door? (Ai đang mở cửa đấy?)
Who teaches you English? (Ai dạy bạn Tiếng Anh?)
Which is better? (Cái/ loại nào tốt hơn?)
What caused the accident? (Nguyên nhân gì đã gây ra tai nạn?)
* Lưu ý: các động từ đứng sau Wh- đều chia số ít (lives, is,...)
- Whom hoặc What: Câu hỏi tân ngữ
Đây là dạng câu hỏi khi muốn biết tân ngữ hay đối tượng tác động của hành động

Tân ngữ là danh từ, đại từ đứng sau động từ, giới từ.
Ví dụ:
Whom did you meet this morning? (Bạn gặp ai sáng nay?) (Whom là tân ngữ của động từ “meet”)

=> I met an old friend. (Tôi gặp một người bạn cũ)


What did David buy at the store? (David mua gì ở cửa hàng thế?)
=> David bought some bread at the store. (Bạn ấy mua ít bánh mì)
- When, Where, How and Why: Câu hỏi bổ ngữ
Dùng khi muốn biết thời gian When, nơi chốn Where, cách thức How và lý do Why.
Ví dụ:
How did Maria get to school yesterday? (Hơm qua Maria đến trường bằng gì?)
=> She went to school by bike. (Cô ấy đến trường bằng xe đạp.)
When did he move to London? (Anh ấy tới Luân Đôn khi nào?)
=> He moved to London yesterday. (Anh ấy tới Luân Đôn hôm qua.)
Why did he leave so early? (Tại sao cô ấy đi sớm thế?)
=> She left early to go to the meeting on time. (Cô ấy đi sớm để đến cuộc họp đúng giờ.)
When will she come back? Khi nào cô ấy sẽ trở lại?)
=> She will come back tomorrow. (Cô ấy sẽ trở lại vào ngày mai.)
c, Trường hợp câu hỏi đặc biệt với Which:

Eg: This ruler is 20 centimeters long.
=> How long is this ruler?
=> How long: hỏi cho thời gian bao lâu
Eg: It takes me an hour to do my homework.
=> How long does it take you to do your
homework?
(Nó lấy mất của bạn bao nhiêu thời gian để làm
bài tập về nhà?)
How often: hỏi cho mức độ, tần suất, số lần
Eg: I go to school every day.
=> How often do you go to school?
How much: hỏi cho giá cả

Eg: This book is 3$.
=> How much is this book?
=> How much does this book cost?
=> What is the price of this book?

How much + N (ko đếm được): hỏi cho số lượng
Eg: There is some water in the bottle.
=> How much water is there in the bottle?
How many + N(es, s): hỏi cho số lượng với danh
từ đếm được
Eg: There are two pens on the table.
=> How many pens are there on the table?
Eg: I have a pen here.
=> How many pens do you have here?
What’s the weather like?: hỏi cho thời tiết
What color: hỏi cho màu sắc
What size: hỏi cho kích cỡ
