ACKNOWLEDGMENT
To complete this graduation topic well, in addition to my own efforts, I also

the necessary practical knowledge. During the internship period at ATV taking the

very first step in the interpretation and translation field, we can practice several useful
skills, including listening, public speaking, and teamwork in translating.

Second, we are truly honored to be trainees at ATV. There were no words to
express our gratitude to ATV, especially the ATV management board for creating all
the best conditions for us in this internship successfully.

Thirdly, thank my teammates for helping me a lot during our internship, we
have worked so well as a team and I really wish all the best for all of you.

In general, due to the limited knowledge and ability, so it is unavoidable that

INTRODUCTION
An internship is a process in which students apply their learned knowledge to
the reality of work, thereby helping students practice their career skills and Improve
the experience themselves in the learning process. This is also an important milestone
before students apply for future jobs.

Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to experience and work in practical
professional environments and thereby gain the necessary experience to improves.

The internship report consists of these following purposes:

1.2. History of ATV
An Giang Radio and Television Station was established on September 2, 1977, as
a local Radio-Television Station in An Giang province of Vietnam, this station is under
the People's Committee of An Giang province.

On September 2, 1977, at 5 am, the first radio program of An Giang Radio was
established and broadcast on AM 1170 Khz in the area of Long Xuyen town - now Long
Xuyen city.

On March 25, 1993, the People's Committee of the province decided to rename
An Giang Radio Station to An Giang Radio and Television Station but had not yet
broadcast a television program, only focusing on collaboration with City Radio Television. Can Tho to improve radio quality.

On August 19, 1998, An Giang Radio - Television officially broadcast television
on channel 36 UHF.
September 2, 2009, bringing television waves to the regional cable television system
and Ho Chi Minh City.
On January 1, 2011, the inauguration of An Giang Radio and Television
Technical Center.
On January 1, 2012, the 93.1 Mhz FM radio frequency was officially broadcast
and simultaneously broadcast on channel 8 VHF at the broadcast point on the top of
Cam Mountain.

On January 2, 2012, the website of An Giang Radio and Radio Station was put into
operation:

In May 2013, the pilot broadcast of ATV2 was a Khmer ethnic-style channel
broadcast on channel 8 VHF


On June 1, 2013, ATV2 channel officially broadcast with broadcast time 15/24h
(05h00 - 12h00, 16h00 - 24h00) in Khmer language.

On April 1, 2018, ATV2 stopped broadcasting.
On January 1, 2019, ATV aired the channel in HD format.
On January 1, 2020, the official radio coverage was to broadcast FM at 93.1
MHz frequency in the Mekong Delta region.
Currently, the director is Nguyen Van Len.

2. Satellite Team Introduction
2.1. Overview
Satellite Team is under the management of the Program Department of ATV,
with four staffs take responsibility for selecting and translating world news from
English and Chinese to Vietnamese. The working time is divided into two shifts: day
shift and night shift. The day shift has two news at noon and in the evening (6:30 p.m).
The night shift is responsible for producing two news which broadcast in the morning
(6:00 a.m) and the evening (10:30 p.m).

2.2. The duties of Satellite Team
With an organization and a professional way of working with many years of
experience in the media field, the daily job of members of the Satellite Team is listening,
select, and translate some news from major channels NHK, CGTN, BBC, and CGTN
into Vietnamese before being approved, edited and broadcasted.

B. THE INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES

1. Internship activities
Our internship program officially started on February 24, 2021, and ended on
April 14, 2021, we were divided into two smaller groups and got specific information about
the entire internship program. involves key skills such as English translation and speaking.

1.1. The first week
The first days we started working in small groups and received the first jobs, we
were instructed to listen to news from NHK, CGTN, BBC, ... then write down what we
heard. We heard from the English version and then worked in groups to translate what
we heard into Vietnamese.

EU, UK DEAL GIVES GRACE PERIOD FOR ECO CARS
The European Union and the United Kingdom have agreed on a grace period before
placing full tariffs on hybrid and electric vehicles made with parts from outside the area.
The free trade deal struck between the two on Thursday aims to zero tariffs on goods traded
between Britain and EU from January 1st. But sufficient local content is needed to qualify,
levies are imposed on cars with more than 45% of their parts are sourced from outside . The

two sides agree on a 6-year-phased approach for autos seen as eco-friendly vehicles with
their ratio up to 60% of the outside parts will be tariff-free until 2023. It’ll be reduced 55%
from 2024 to 2026 and reverse to 45% in 2027. The timeline might impact Japanese car-

makers such as Toyota Motor and Nissan Motor. Their sample hybrid and electric vehicle
oversea using major components imported from Japan. This means the company needs to


raise their local content to avoid future tariffs.

China Demographic
Lots of people are going on Chinese social media to talk about the possibility that
China might end its two-child policy. The National Health Commission said the idea code
was explored particularly in Northeastern China that region is experiencing the

demographic crisis. The birth rate is among the lowest in the world. The Health

Commission is encouraging Northeast provinces to look into fully removing limits in the


family size. It’s also wants to research how that might affect economic growth and social

stability.

Nhiều người dùng mạng xã hội ở Trung Quốc đang bàn về khả năng chính phủ nước

ADB TO SUPPORT ASIA-PACIFIC VACCINATIONS
The Asian Development Bank will offer financial help to developing nations as they
look to vaccinate their people against COVID. ADB president Asakawa Masatsugu said: “

Systems for vaccine transportation and management need huge investment”. He said
support will come through a 9 billion dollar vaccine initiative, the bank launched late
last year. Meanwhile, the ADB says it has offered nearly 10 billion dollars in emergency
financial aid by December to countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines where the
virus continues to spread. Recipients also included Thailand and the Maldives where the
pandemic has hit tourism hard. Asakawa says the ADB will come up with new measures if


that’s necessary to encourage the stable economic growth in the region.

During the first week after fixing the assignment, my team found out that we
made a lot of mistakes in text presentation and expression in both listening and
translation and we learned that it was not easy.

1.2. The second week
On March 4, Ms. Ngoc arranged a meeting with us to answer questions and rate
our work like checking grammar and spelling after listening. After the preliminary
assessment ended, we continued with our personal speaking test with a topic up to us,
plus new listening exercises.

US - CHINA
The US trade representative Robert lighthizer says the extension of the March 1st
deadline will soon be finalized. But he also cautioned against too much optimism. “Let me
be clear, much still needs to be done”. Lighthizer says sticking points remain including
intellectual property rights violations and forced technological transfers for us /US firms in

China. These comments came after President Donald Trump hinted the US will extend
the talks and suspend schedule tariff increases on Chinese goods. Trump cited progress in


negotiations. Meanwhile Lighthizer also touched on trade with Japan saying he hopes to
visit the country in March at the earliest. He said American farmers are at a disadvantage

after the trans-Pacific partnership went into effect in December. The deals /the deal is
between Japan and ten other countries the US. /The US has withdrawn from the free trade

pact. Lighthiser hinted he will also raise the issue of currency manipulation with Japan.

The move by the US to tighten sanctions on the Chinese telecom giant - Huawei has
Beijing climbing unreasonable suppression. The US Department of Commerce announced
a new rule on Friday. Now products made with semiconducting manufacturing equipment

from the US, can not be sold to Huawei, even if those products come from a third country.
US firms are already banned from doing business with Huawei, and its Affiliates, unless

they get special authorization. They went into force last May. Chinese foreign ministry /

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Li Shang says the US needs to immediately stop
suppression on Huawei and other Chinese firms. He also said/says Beijing will firmly
defend the legal rights of Chinese companies. A newspaper affiliated with the Chinese
Communist party quotes a source close to the government saying: “China will take forceful

countermeasures”. The Global Times reports that those countermeasures will include
investigations into restrictions on US companies like Qualcomm, Cisco and Apple.
Planned purchases of Boeing aircraft will also be canceled.

Now officials from Japan and the US are gearing up for talks on trade. Both sides are
hoping to arrange a date for negotiation that has been delayed as Washington focuses on
securing a deal with China. Japanese officials say they want the first meeting for talks to be

held in the US in early April that’s after Japan's budget for the new fistful/ fiscal year clear

of diet/ clears the Diet. Both sides agreed last September to start the negotiation for/on

This is NHK Newsline. The latest GDP data for the US shows the country's
economy shrank last year by 3.5%. That's the largest contraction since 1946 when the
nation was just emerging from World War 2. The US commerce department released
preliminary data on Thursday. The figures show both consumer spending and
corporate capital investment drop by around 4%, exports plunged by 13%.The
statistics also indicate that real GDP in the fourth quarter of last year increased at an
annualized rate of 4% from the previous quarter. The US economy had been
rebounding since the latter half of 2020. But the pace of recovery has been losing steam
due to a surge in the number of coronavirus infections this winter.
