An internship is a time I cannot forget during my 4 years of studying at the
school. I have had great experiences and memories when I practiced at
SUNSET BEACH RESORT AND SPA. Besides the wonderful memories,
there were the mistakes and troubles in the early days. However, I received a lot
of help, enthusiastic support, guided and encouraged me to overcome all
difficulties and ended this hard but meaningful time.
First of all, I would like to thank the School Board and Faculty of Foreign
Languages of An Giang University

where I am studying in English language

and Sunset Beach Resort and Spa Phu Quoc for creating favorable conditions
and professional environment for me. I improved my knowledge and skills
during the past 2 months of practice. This internship made me know more about
in the service sector.
Secondly, I would like to thank to Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Trang, who is my
consulting learning at An Giang University and my instructor. She gave me
useful advice during my internship as well as completing my report.
Thirdly, I want to thank the manager and staffs of the resort, especially the
restaurant staff, who have been enthusiastic and have created good conditions
for me to finish the task. Since then, I have professional knowledge and skills in
serving and handling situations in the restaurant
Next, I would like to thank Mr. Do Duc Hai, restaurant manager, who gave me
professional guidance and insightful comments, helping me gain more
experience in communication English.


Last but not least, I am grateful to my family and all my dear friends who have


helped me my internship. Without them, I probably wouldn't be able to get

OBJECTIVES

Today, most companies need their employees to have both knowledge and
experience. As a student about to graduate, the period of internship is the time
when students can apply the theories learned at the university into practice and
begin to form behaviors and attitudes work as well as responsibility at work.
These are essential elements to help them find jobs in the future more easily.

Furthermore, the service industry is a highly developed industry that attracts
many of workers. This is why I choose Sunset Beach Resort and Spa which is
quite well rated for my first experience in this service industry.
This report aims to redescribe my internship process at Sunset Beach Resort
and Spa. First of all, this report gives an overview of the company. Next, I will
describe the detail the process of training and improving the skills at the
practice site to get the best results. Finally, the most important thing that I look
forward to being able to use what I have learned in life, especially English
speaking and listening skills.


PART A - DESCRIPTION OF INTERNSHIP RESORT
I. Introduction

Sunset Beach Resort & Spa has a very convenient location, right in
Duong Dong town, the center of the island, golden location surrounded by Tran
Hung Dao main street, where there are many choices of cuisine, shopping,
entertainment and beautiful Truong beach. Besides, it is in a fantastic area, just

Sunset Beach Resort & Spa has 118 rooms, all new, comfortable and

PART B - INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES AT RESTAURANT
Working in the restaurant industry allows me to meet and speak with a wide
range of people, which helps me to develop my communication skills. Therefore,
for my first internship, I want to go to a well-known resort called Sunset Beach
Resort and Bar, which is a four-star resort. In the future, I want to gain experience
and learn my English skills for the job. As a result, part B will detail some of the
things I learned and did during my internship at Sunset Beach Resort



and Spa. I was recruited to work as an intern in the restaurant department after
eight weeks at the resort to help me learn the food service business and practice
English in specific situations.
I . Breakfast buffet restaurant

Time: 06:30 am - 10:00 am

preparatory tasks:
1. Get a list of guests using the buffet
at the front desk.
2. Get the key of the cashier's desk in
the security room.
3. Prepare drinks: cook water and
make tea; make coffee; cut fruit and
squeeze fruit to make juice; pour fresh
milk, soy milk, and condensed milk
into a bottle; After preparing, bring to

the counter drink to serve customers.

4. Check the food and name tag for matches.
5. Prepare enough utensils and napkins.
6. Prepare a full cup and cup.
7. Rearrange tables and chairs in line, balance, ensuring spacious aisle,
comfortable to travel.


8. Check the cleaning area, the dining table you are in charge of from top to
bottom of the furniture, the surrounding area and the service cabinet.
9. Know the customers who have booked in advance and arrange them in the
right positions. Restaurant management software can be used to easily control
customer lists, sort and remember their locations.
10. Finally, check the entire system of the store's facilities to limit unnecessary
failures while serving and give a careful plan to prevent and replace.

After the preparation work, the manager or the shift leader that day will assign
the area and tasks to each employee including the following tasks:
1. Hostess:
- Turn on music as required by manager.


- Turn on the air conditioner at the right temperature.
- Turn on the television to open the advertising channel about the restaurant.
- Welcome guests, ask for the number of rooms, and how many guests.
2. Service staff:

- Clear leftovers and unnecessary tools on the table.
- Set up eating utensils after customers are finished using them.
- Fill utensils, cups and cups with small quantities.
- Add more water when the customer is almost finished.
- Customer care.
At 09:45 am inform guests only 15 minutes to get food because the buffet
counter will close at 10 o'clock.
At 10:00 am, clear the buffet counter and set up the restaurant to prepare for the
sale of À La Carte at 11:00.
During the period from 10:00 to 11:00:
- Pay welcome drink: is a complimentary drink serving guests while waiting for
check-in at the front desk. The way to know the number of guests to prepare
water is to go to the homepage of the front desk and find the number of guests
checking in for that day.
- Charge for breakfast buffet: get the number of guests by looking at the list of
guests to eat that day on paper.
- Order required for the next day when the stock is out of stock.
