Quality assurance shall conform to the requirements of EN 9133 and the manufacturer’s quality
systems shall conform to EN 9100.
9.2 Conditions for qualification
9.2.1 Initial qualification
Initial qualification of a cable outlet accessory is obtained:
either when specimens as defined in 9.2.2 have satisfied the applicable tests in Group 0, Group 1,
Group 2, Group 3 and Group 4 (see Tables 5, 6, 7 ,8 and 9).
9.2.2 Sampling and definition of specimens
Four sample cable outlet accessories shall be provided in each of two sizes, a total of eight. For circular
connectors these shall be small (shell size 08 to 13) and large (shell size 20 and larger). For samples for
rectangular connectors, refer to the product standard. The eight samples shall be divided into Group 0
and Group 1 (or Groups 3 and 4) as shown in Table 4 and prepared as instructed in 9.2.3. Thirteen

All samples shall be coupled to a qualified receptacle connector or simulation thereof unless otherwise
specified in the product standard. Where tests in the product standard requires specimens to be wired,
50 % of the specimens shall be wired with a minimum cable bundle diameter and 50 % of the
specimens with a maximum in accordance with the cable entry range specified in the product standard.
9.2.4 Programme of qualification tests
The qualification approval tests defined in Tables 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 shall be carried out in the sequence
indicated.
Test EN 2591-306 is to be performed on materials and is not included in the test groups. If the materials
used conform to MIL-HDBK-454B, guideline 4, Group 1, test EN 2591-306 is not required to be
performed.
