The Bus connection is one of the more popular connection methods available for AGOT as it provides fast communications to rack based
controllers. As a result, users need to consider the following when configuring a system connected to the BUS:

B. Proximity of first connected GOT terminal

Notes for Bus Connection
Bus connection provides the fastest transfer speed among GOT connection forms. The Q Series (Q Mode) allows up to 5 GOTs to be connected with a PLC, and the QnA/A Series, up
to 3 GOTs to be connected with a PLC. The Q Series (Q Mode) allows GOTs to be installed up to 37m away, and the QnA/A Series, up to 36.6m (35m for small units). Bus connection
provides high-speed transmission without using a computer link unit.
• When it is connected to a bus, the GOT is regarded as a 32-point special function unit.
• The GOT is assigned to a free I/O slot in the expansion base unit.

The following free I/O slots are required according to the number of GOTs to be connected.

1 unit: 1 slot 2 units: 2 slots 3 units: 3 slots
• If the above free I/O slots are unavailable, but the following free points are
available, GOTs can be used.

1 unit: 32 points 2 units: 64 points 3 units: 96 points
Q3ACPU, Q4A(R)CPU, A3 CPU, A4UCPU, and A0J2HCPU
require free I/O slots in the maximum expansion step range. The A17 CPU(S3) does not
have these restrictions.
GOT when viewed from the QnA/A series CPU
Restriction on the number of GOTs that can be connected
• The number of GOTs that can be connected depends on the PLC CPU and the number of special function units to be installed.

When it is connected to a bus, the GOT is regarded as a 16-point intelligent function unit.
• Only the Q Series CPU (Q Mode) can be connected through a bus.
The Q Series (A Mode) cannot be connected through a bus.
• Up to 5 units can be connected.

One expansion step is occupied when a GOT is connected.
Therefore, the expansion base cannot be set to the same step count
as the GOT.
When the second to fifth GOTs are connected, the expansion step
count does not increase. The same number as the first GOT is set to
the GOT expansion step count.
