1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. The reason for choosing the topic.
Nguyen Chich secondary school is equipped with cable and wireless
networks which can satisfy the connection speed for multiple computers. The
teachers equip with the best training equipments such as laptops,
microphones, ... In addition, parents are equipped with school supplies for their
children, such as tables, smart phones, laptops .... From these advantages,
combined with extensive research and shared from colleagues in other locations.
In the process of teaching English I have applied the knowledge, tools, softwares
to maximize the features of the equipment which I have been offered, at the
same time, making the level of my English teaching becomes more professional,
efficient and attracts more students to become interested in learning English.
In this topic I want to share the experience and the tools, applications of
some software programs to teach English at secondary schools: "Some
information technology applications in teaching English for the students in
class 6A at Nguyen Chich Secondary school”
1.2. Research purposes .
- Research and learn maximum features of the equipment that has been
provided to make teaching more effective and professional
- Formation and development of student self-learning methods.
Approach gradually changed from "teacher-centered" to "student-centered".
- Create awareness and excitement for students through beautiful
images, rich sound or the ranking points from the contest quick.
- Use tools and software to create interaction hold teachers and students,
students with students ....
- Students hear the correct pronunciation of the natives through Quizlet
tools.

- Using this tool will help teach the average students getting better
because we are interested in the technology equipment Which can save time in
preparing lesson plans instead of using Powerpoint presentation tools, save time
teaching in class compared to traditional methods. At the same time, teachers
have more time to develop these outstanding students as well as help for the
average students improve.
- Parents can help track, monitor, or can learn along side their children
through homework with the provided URL.

During the study of the topic, I have used many methods such as:
- Methodology of reasoning
- Method of reading and using materials, books in teaching English,
learning form software on the internet related topics.
- Observation method.
- Observation the activities of
the students and the ability of the
students’learning when applying the information technology in English lessons.
- Method of summarizing and drawing experience through the activities of
myself and colleagues.

and learning applications English. Promoting ICT to teach English.

2.2. The real situation before applying the initiative experience.
The application of ICT in teaching English is not more popular. Almost
teachers use the software only Powerpoint, software book, But, the software is
not dedicated to lesson plans. Therefore, to get a good lesson, the teachers have
to spend a lot of time preparing the lessons.
Experience gained from ICT of my experience and learning from
colleagues in other places or from the internet.

Information technology is changing day by day in every part of our lives
in which the application of information technology in the field of education is
also the top of the concern and investment of the society today. The application
of IT helps teachers teach more and more smoothly, professionally and
effectively. All the basic software applications mentioned below are a practical
demonstration of what has been used in grade 7 at Nguyen Chich secondary . In
this way, the teachers are not too hard and time consuming to prepare the
lessons. Teaching materials and equipments are provided to maximize the
effectiveness of the use. Students are more active with what they are learning in
class and practice after school. The

students will become more excited and positive about being directly involved in
online post editing for their friend. Nowadays, students love to interact with
technology products, so creating a learning environment and technology is more
appealing to them. In fact, more applications become fun and the students are
eager to take part in learning activities. Kahoot and Quizlet softwares are really
interesting for students to improve their English.
In fact there are many tools to support teaching, but not many teachers
can apply information technology to change and improve teaching.
This topic is the objective of dissemination of teaching using ICT to
help the teaching and learning English become more professional and effective.
1. Kahoot
1.1. What is Kahoot?
Kahoot! Is a free game-based learning plattform and is used by many schools
around the world as a Classroom Response System.
Kahoot is a learning application but looks like a game with a nice color
interface, clear text, and especially the ability to connect people very high.
Kahoot is a website, so it can be used on any device: laptop, tablet,
smartphone, computer; On all platforms: Windows, Android, iOs ... as long as
the device is connected to the network, supporting learning "anytime,
anywhere".
1.2. The way to create Kahoot.
Step 1: Create an account on Kahoot
We go to www.getkahoot.com. Go to "Sign up for free" to start creating
account.

Step 2: Select the item you want to create
We have to choose what you want to create. There are 3 options:

Quiz: Create a quiz with questions for the whole class to do. This is a
good way to help the class review what they have just finished giving out, and
let the students get more excited about the presentation (because they play
games and compete with each other to see who gets the right answer).
Discussion: Ask a class to discuss. This way to start the presentation.
You can ask a small question for the whole class, for people to think, to debate,
and then to start the lecture to conclude the question.
Survey: Create a survey to see what the crowd is. This method is
appropriate during the presentation so that the class is not boring because you
speak without letting the others give their ideas. You create a survey related to
the subject you are referring to, then tell the class to vote and let everyone see
the results of the survey.
Step 3: Fill in the quiz / discussion / survey information
After selecting the item you want to create, you start filling information for that
item including:
Title
Wallpaper (cover image)
Description: see what this section created for what purpose
Who is allowed to see
Language
Audience: event, school, business, training ...
Source of information (credit resources): if you get information from
any website, you have to copy the link of that page, or if you borrow someone's
post, you have to put people's name on
Opening video (intro video)
Once finished, press "Ok, go" in the upper right corner of the screen!
Note: Any word with "Required" is obliged to fill in, any word without
“Required” doesn’t need to fill in.

Step 4: Ask questions
After pressing "Ok, go", you will be directed to the page to ask
questions. Click "Add question", then fill in the question:

Image or video: Press "Add image" or "Add video" to insert image or
video clip.
Time limit: The whole class only has time to think and answer. This is
up to you
Award points: You switch to "Yes" to give each player the correct
answer. But the reward should only apply to the quiz. For discussion and survey,
there is no right and wrong answer, so this part you adjust "No" offline.
Answer: You must give at least 2 answers for the player to choose from,
and a maximum of 4 answers. Then you must also choose the correct answer by
ticking the tick next to that answer!
Credit resources
Step 5: Preview
If you click on "Preview it", you will see your quiz / discussion / survey
from the player's perspective. This preview is just like the official gameplay,
which means that what you see in this step will be. The only difference is that in
the preview step, you just play the role of playing and the role of the player. The
preview interface will be divided into two halves:

On the left is what will show up on the main screen for everyone to see,
to the right is what's on the player's phone screen.
Each game (quiz / discussion / survey) will have a code called Game
Pin. Those who want to play will have to enter this code into their machine and
press "Enter".
After entering the Pin Game, the player must enter his nickname. This
nickname will appear on the main screen for everyone to see, but usually no one
uses their real name, but uses a different name (such as John Cena, or Potato, for
example) to slap them and lose. Who knows who he is Next, press "Ok, go"!

1.3.How to apply Kahoot in teaching English.
Kahoot supports users to create a colorful multi-choice game (multiple
choice test) with the ability to integrate images and video easily and quickly.
The teacher will create a Kahoot game! Then connect to the slide
projector to show the students, the students will be based on the questions on the
projector’s screen and choose the correct answer on the connected device
Kahoot themselves Kahoot system! It will be based on the accuracy of the
response and the speed of response to the scoring and the response. At the end of
the game, the system will list the top 5 students on the projection screen, and
announce the rankings on each
student's device. The system also supports downloading detailed reports of
grades
and student responses as Excel files.

This tool should be used in Warm up, Review or Consolidation.
To review old lessons, I create in the form of questions Multiple choice,
T / F Statement, Short answer, ect, but doing so would take a lot of time and will
limit interoperability between the teacher and students.
Kahoot has created a variety of questions for the students to answer. if
anyone can give the correct answer, they will get points and then ranked. This
helps teachers assess student ability. Specially designed kahoot also sounds
interesting.
Ex: After students finish assignments Read - Understand in activities 4/5
skills Lesson 1 / Unit 7 / English 7 / Episode 2, we will read the information
and answer the questions in paragraph 5 then we talk about the transport used
most and least? Then, students will participate in the competition with content
related to the
passage which we have read with Kahoot to quickly check again the ability to
quickly acquire their on readings

I've compiled 10 questions with 2 main types T / F statement and
Multiple choice. The following is the statement of the 10 question illustrated is
designed to prepare students to participate.

The image is copied from the editing interface of the software. Students use
the devices can access the Internet, such as smart phones, ipad, laptop .... to
access path provided by a teacher, enter a PIN, enter the name and answer the
questions. The system automatically rank players by score and time.
- Overall, after a short time (six months) of using Kahoot in the Warm-up,
Review or Consolidation tutorials, I found that designing a professional, fast and
professional question-and-answering package can save a lot of time since this
application can support upload pictures and audio to compose questions, and I
do not have to work too much as I observe students' results, I do not have to wait
to see whether all the students have finished answering the questions or not
which is usually done in Power point because all players themselves have
chosen the question and the system automatically reports the results without
having to wait out the time as I have installed for each question before. Using
Kahoot helps students participate in the game at the same time as an unlimited
number of participants. Teachers can organize mini gameshow in the school's
extra-curricular sessions. At the same time, the teacher can encourage more
students to improve the position on the chart.
2. Teaching vocabulary - Quizlet.
Quizlet <quizlet.com> is a website that helps users create and use
online flashcards to learn vocabulary, including audio and video. Learning
vocabulary is less boring and easier for the students to remember. One of the
advantages of the Quizlet is that it can be used on smart devices such as smart
phones, tablets, ...
Quizlet will help the learners save time, flexible and more active in learning and
reviewing new words.
After we have created the sets, we have 6 different learning
styles,changing this method also increases the interest in learning.

1.Flashcards: This section helps the students memorize vocabulary on
two sides of the flashcard, flips back and forth to change between English and
Vietnamese interpretation as well as pronunciation. Just one click or the next
key on the keyboard is already read.
2.Learn: The Quizlet requires the students to type the English word that
corresponds to the predefined Vietnamese part and automatically correct the
mistakes and spellings when the learners misspell each word.
3.Speller: "just type what you hear" -> simply hear the words, then the
learners rewrite the word only, it is very useful for listening skill.
4.Test: Quizlet will create a random test of the vocabulary that we
created based on four basic forms: written, matching, multiple choice and True /
False.
5.Scatter: This is a matching game that allows the learners to "drag and
drop" words and their corresponding meanings. The feeling of breaking the
record of oneself or other friends in the group is quite interesting, learning to
play - playing that kind of headache does not hurt at all :)
6.Race: In this final form, the question will run from left to right, and
the leaners need to quickly type the corresponding word into the box. The speed
will be increased to correspond to the level.
Before using Quizlet, I usually prepare images or preparing images
for presentation on Powerpoint, so it took me too much time to prepare
including teaching tools. Nowadays, I have a software application to create
and use Quizlet card sets to teach vocabulary at 30 seconds per word
including: vocabulary,
meaning, images and pronunciation. Ex: To teach the vocabulary of the sport
such as Karate, Chess, Skiing, Swimming ... in Lesson 1 / Unit 8/ English 7/
episode 2. I just need two minutes to enter the right-column from English,
find and select the consistent image to the right. Click the Create button that

While teaching, teachers can teach monolingual or bilingual, depending
on the choice of English or Vietnamese.
After teaching vocabulary, I give students the path to the vocabulary
cards
to participate in mini-test or from the corresponding definition in order to check
the
memory and understand the vocabulary of students Scatter card created by the
free
software on device. The software is designed time, help teachers comparable
flexibility among participating students.

In addition, students participate in the exam with multiple choice
exercises forms (M / C), TF, circle, short answer test card online
Students listen to pronunciation and fill in the blanks of card speller. If wrong,
the software will display hints. If correct, it would be plus points.
Use Quizlet help me save time, costs, makes teaching vocabulary becomes a
professional, fast and attract students.
Students hear the correct pronunciation from native speaker's voice.
Helping students to practice vocabulary at home.
2.4. The effectiveness of the initiative experience for educational
activities, with myself, colleagues and the school.
These softwares has a very good application properties, bring good
benefits to both teachers and students.
If teachers proficient use of ICT is the software that will help lessons
enjoyable and attract students.
You can apply for the exam and outdoor activities.
This solution helps us not waste the benefits of technology in the
educational environment.
These softwares helpteachers do not waste the technologies used for
teaching.
These softwares help students to save time.
Stimulate the ability of students to learn better English. Increase retention
and interaction with the tools to learn english. Listening, speaking, writing of
students is enhanced. Average and weak students can improve their English.

3. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS.
3.1. Conclusion
After the application of information technology in my teaching lessons.
The students in grade 7 at Nguyen Chich seconday school have become.more
interested in English lessons and they have become more active in their
learning.. They are eager to participate in the game "school - play, play - learn"
on computers for teachers created. This is a good sign of changing teaching
methods, making the quality of work is improved and student results.
3.2. Recommendations
a. For the teachers:
- Regular updates and training to improve the use of information
technology in teaching. Always ask ourselves such as: "How to make the
lessons interesting" Or "How to create the appropriate files to listen to all
students in the classroom?"
b. For the students
- Must prepare the lesson carefully before class.
- Must meet all kinds of books for class service.
- Must obey the instructions and guidance of the teacher.
c. For the leaders
The current means and teaching aids for the English subject are not still
supplied enough. So the leaders should equip adequate equipments such as
radios, tapes, pictures, projector, and especially functional rooms in order to
suceesfully carry out the objective of teaching and learning Englishin this stage.
d. For Education and training Department:

- Annually organizing seminars, for example: "Discuss, share of ICT in
Teaching" for teachers to update and improve the use of information technology
specialists to help English teaching becomes more professional.
The above is my own experience “Some information technology applications
for the students in grade 7 at Nguyen Chich secondary school” Certainly
there will be more softwares and more diverse applications to support better
