Outdoor Water Park Hours
The Outdoor Water Park features a shallow water
beach entry, a play structure and two water slides.
Patrons must be 48” tall to ride the tall water slides.
Please note that the water park will open for the season on
Saturday, May 25th. Please call for hours.

The department offers American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes. For information about what to expect
during lessons or more details about each level, please refer to the swim lessons section of the program

Private Swim Lessons 3 yrs. & older $25 per half hour lesson
Clark County Aquatics is now offering private swim lessons with our highly qualified instructors! All lessons are
tailored to meet the individual’s needs and can be scheduled at the individual’s convenience. Fee is $25 per half hour
lesson. For more information please see a staff member. Registration for private swim lessons is available in person
only.
Parent/Child Swim Lessons 6 mo. - 3 yrs. 3 week sessions / 30 minutes $26/session
This class is designed for children ages 6 months to 3 years and an accompanying adult. An adult must be in the water at
all times during class. This class builds swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the water. Adults and children
participate in guided classes during which children learn elementary skills such as water entry, underwater exploration,
kicking, and floating. Adults learn safety information and techniques to continue facilitating safe water exploration for
their child outside of class.
Beginner Lessons 3 - 13 yrs 3 week sessions / 30 minutes $26/session
Children should be comfortable entering the water without an adult. This class is intended to teach your child basic
water skills and safety in a comfortable aquatic environment. The children will learn to swim on their own in order to
graduate to the advanced level or level 2. Skills taught in this class include: water entry, submerging mouth, nose and
eyes, blowing bubbles, opening eyes underwater and retrieving a submerged object, rolling from front to back and back
to front, floating on front and back with support, swimming on front and back using arm and leg actions, and basic water
safety skills.
Advanced Swim Lessons 3 - 13 yrs 3 week sessions / 45 minutes $26/session
Children learn competency in strokes and safety skills. Skills taught in this class include: submerging entire head,
breath holding, rolling from front to back and back to front, changing direction while swimming, treading water, flutter,
scissor, dolphin and breaststroke kicks on front, front crawl, elementary backstroke, swimming on front and back using
arm and leg actions without support, diving, swimming underwater, all swim team strokes, and aquatic survival skills.
Level II Swim Lessons 3 - 13 yrs. 3 week sessions / 45 minutes $26/session
Students must have passed Level I/Preschool. Skills taught in this class include: water entry, submerging entire head,
breath holding, rolling from front to back and back to front, changing direction while swimming, treading water using
arms and legs, swimming on front and back using arm and leg actions without support, and water safety skills.
Level III Swim Lessons 3 - 13 yrs. 3 week sessions / 45 minutes $26/session
Students must have passed Level II. Skills taught in this class include: jumping in from the side, head first entry from
sitting and kneeling positions, rotary breathing, treading water, flutter, scissor, dolphin and breaststroke kicks on front,
front crawl, elementary backstroke, and aquatic survival skills.
Level IV Swim Lessons 3 - 13 yrs. 3 week sessions / 45 minutes $26/session
Students must have passed Level III. Skills taught in this class include: head first entry from stride and compact
positions, swimming underwater, feet first surface dive, front crawl and backstroke open turns, treading water using
different kicks, front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly, flutter and dolphin kicks
on back, and aquatic survival skills.

Adaptive Splash
5 – 17 yrs 6 weeks $26/session
Specially designed for children with mental, physical, or developmental disabilities. Skills are learned step-by-step so that each
student can move from one level to another, comfortably. Safety and confidence in the water are the primary goals. Stroke
techniques and more difficult skills follow.
Mobility Class – Saturday from 1:15-2:00 pm. This class will help build and maintain physical fitness and strength for
swimmers with special needs. Swimmers will work on strength through water walking in the shallow pool. All activities will be
adapted to fit the needs of the participants. This class will be held in the shallow water however participants must be comfortable
with water before enrolling in this class.
Beginning Swimming Lessons – Saturday from 2:15-2:45 p.m. This class is designed to familiarize participants
with the water. Participants will learn basic swimming skills, along with the fundamentals of water safety. All activities will be
adapted to fit the needs of the participants. This class is offered in a group setting for swimmers with little or no experience in the
water. The goal of this class is to build confidence in and around the water.
Advanced Swimming Lessons – Saturday from 3:00-3:45 pm. Participants will work on improving their swimming
skills, along with increasing their knowledge of safety around the water. All activities will be adapted to fit the needs of the
participants. This class will be held in the lap pool where the water is 7 feet deep.

High School Swimming Prep Class 13-18 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour $30/session
Keep in shape during the off season for High School Swimming! This swim program is open ONLY to high school students. The
purpose is to prepare athletes for high school swimming competition. Class will include training on stroke technique, starts, turns, and
endurance.
Junior Lifeguard Program 11-15 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour $30/session
This introductory lifeguard course covers prevention, fitness, response, leadership, attitude & professionalism. Pre-requisites include:
Swim front crawl 100 yards continuously, tread water for two minutes, swim 10 yards underwater. This class does not certify participants
in lifeguard training.
Recreational Swim Team 6 -17 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour $30/session
This is a recreational level swim team program that encourages teamwork and self-esteem. Participants will practice to develop strokes
and improve personal times and skills. Emphasis is on personal improvement. Pre-requisite: Participants must be able to swim 25 yards
of the pool independently using an over-arm stroke with rhythmic breathing. It is highly recommended that the participant complete
Level IV Swim Lessons before enrolling. Program fee includes instructional practices and swim meets.
Recreational Synchronized Swim Team 6 -17 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour $30/session
This is a recreational level synchronized swimming program that encourages teamwork and self-esteem. Participants will learn the
fundamentals of synchronized swimming, which blends creative movement and dance in the water. Pre-requisite: participants must be
able to swim 25 yards of the pool independently. It is highly recommended that the participant complete Level III Swim Lessons before
enrolling. Program fee includes instructional practices and synchronized swim meets.

A cross between basketball, soccer, and swimming—what’s not to like? We will be offering practice and scrimmages to anyone
interested in playing water polo in a stress-free, recreational setting. Participants will do drills, work on passing, and play games in a
sport that is proven to increase endurance and coordination. Beginners to advanced level players are welcome. Pre-requisite: participants
must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool independently.

Aqua Boot Camp 14 & older 6 week session / Length Varies $30/1hr or $27/45min.
Looking for a good work out that is different from the rest? Enlist in one of the first Aqua Boot Camp classes in town. This class is
open for Beginners up through Advanced level swimmers. Basic knowledge of swimming is recommended. There will be a mix of
strength conditioning as well as cardio activities that are sure to get your heart pumping. The class will be a little intense but aims to
be very rewarding. Your community needs you. Hooyah! Pre-requisite: participants must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool
independently.
High School Swimming Prep Class 13-18 yrs. 6 week session / 1 hour $30/session

and technique clinics, workshops, and general instruction. This program is designed to help swimmers improve fitness and/or train
for specific goals, and offer active support for a healthy lifestyle through friendship and camaraderie. Pre-requisite: participants
must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool independently.
Adult Synchronized Swimming 14 & older 6 week session / 1 hour $30/session
A great way to get a non-traditional workout! Tone your arms, legs and core while learning fun and basic synchro moves. No
previous synchronized swimming experience necessary, participants should be comfortable swimming underwater and in deep
water. Class will be designed around participants' abilities. Pre-requisite: participants must be able to swim 25 yards of the pool
independently.

Classes are designed for participants to actively move through the water using their whole body by doing a variety of exercises that will help work out arms, legs,
abdomen and core, balance, toning and conditioning with a variety of intensity. Participants should work at their own pace and let the instructor know of any
problems. These exercises can be adapted to anyone. Ability to swim is not required.
Aerobics Mixed Endurance
This class is designed for participants to uses a variety of different speeds and intensities- both high and low, to gain strength, balance and toning using a wide variety
of in water exercises. These exercises will focus on the arms, legs, abdomen and core, balance and toning. There is a wide variety of exercises and speeds to help
participants get the best work out. These exercises can be adapted to anyone, and participants should work at their own pace.
High Endurance
This class is designed for participants to get the maximum work out using in water exercises focusing on the arms, legs, abdomen and core, balance, toning and
muscle strength and resistance. These exercises can be adapted to anyone, and participants should work at their own pace.

Clark County Training Classes and Employment
Clark County Parks and Recreation is currently recruiting individuals 15 ½ years and older for the 2013 season. Training is at a
reduced rate ($70 for Lifeguarding and $80 for WSI certification) for those who sign an employment contract. Positions available
from $9.00 hr. - $15.00 hr. depending on experience and certifications. Applications are available online at
www.clarkcountynv.gov/depts/parks. Clark County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Wait List
If the class you are interested in is full please ask to be added to the Wait List. All participants on wait list should attend the first
class ready to swim and be ready to participate in case of no shows; phone calls will NOT be made to remind you to attend. If you
are admitted into the class, you must pay in full that day.
Lifeguard Prep Class
$10 This is the perfect class for those who want to be a lifeguard, but aren’t sure if you are ready. Trained staff will work with
students to prepare them to pass pre-requisites for entry into the lifeguard training class. After the class, students who come to
practice continue to get pointers from staff until they pass the test. Students should come to class prepared to swim.

Lifeguard Training Course
Course fee is $70 for those who sign an employment contract with Clark County, $140 for others. Must be at least 15 years old to
take the class. Lifeguard Training Class curriculum includes lifesaving skills, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Automated
External Defibrillator and Emergency First Aid. Pre-requisite skills include: 300-yard continuous swim and a retrieval of weighted
object from 7-10 feet of water. Pre-registration required. All classes must be attended to successfully complete the course.
BLENDED LEARNING - MUST HAVE INTERNET ACCESS
The new blended learning Lifeguarding course from the American Red Cross builds the same knowledge and skills as our
traditional in-person training. The online format enables teens and young adults to complete interactive lessons and activities on

Clark County Parks and Recreation offers three different options for registration: mail-in, online, or
walk-in registration. Please see the dates below.

Certification Classes Continued
Water Safety Instructor Course
Water Safety Instructor Class certifies individuals to teach the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim and Parent/Child Aquatic
Programs. Course fee is $80 for those who sign an employment contract with Clark County, $160 for others. Must be at least 16 years
old to enroll in class. To receive certification, candidates must pass a pre-course session which includes demonstrating competency in
the following strokes: front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly, attend and participate in
all class sessions, and pass final written and skill exams. In addition, instructor candidates are expected to demonstrate maturity and
responsibility in all class sessions. * The First day of the class will be at the swimming pool.
American Red Cross Babysitting Course
This two day course without CPR is $50. For an extra $25 attend the third day of class which will certify you in CPR. Boys & Girls
Welcome! (Must be at least 11 years of age by the first class and attend the entire 3-day course.) This class is to provide youth who are
planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training
will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and
help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old.
* This date is the CPR portion of the class.
