betweenthetwoAmericanspeciesarose.
ThenacrosstheChannelinEngland,anatural
mutantoftheChileanspeciesarose,largeand
pink,withashapeandaromareminiscentof


pineapple.Modernstrawberryvarieties,large
andredandflavorful,derivefromthesetwo
all-Americanancestors.Theyhavebeengiven
thescientificnameF.xananassatoindicate
theirhybridorigins(x)anddistinctive
pineapplearoma(ananassa).
Elderberry and Barberry Elderberries and


barberries are minor fruits worth
