ZECHARIAH: KING OVER ALL THE EARTH
Zechariah, the longest book of the minor
prophets, was often quoted by the New
Testament writers. This is because so many
of its prophecies point forward to Christ the
Messiah. One Bible scholar has called
Zechariah “the most Messianic, the most
truly apocalyptic and eschatological, of all
the writings of the Old Testament.”9
Visions, symbols, and prophecies of the
end times (eschatology) abound in
Zechariah. These are the main ingredients of
