third of the bone, with a dislocation at the distal radioulnar joint. These injury
patterns are due to the anatomic relationship of the radius and ulna, with their
points of articulation at the proximal and distal radioulnar joint and
accompanying fibrous interosseous membrane. This relationship is such that
when there is direct trauma to one bone, the force is transmitted to the other,
typically at the points of articulation.
