telemedicineremainassignificantobstaclesforwidespreadadoptionof
telemedicineforpediatriccardiology,particularlyintheUnitedStates.Thelarge
amountofdatafrompediatriccardiology,especiallysurroundingnewbornswith
suspectedheartdefects,canbeleveragedtomakeastrongcaseforamore
favorablehealthcareenvironmentthatsupportsbroaderacceptanceof
telemedicine.Theprioritiesofcostcontainment,qualityandoutcomes,patientcenteredcare,andoptimaluseoftechnologyarebestservedbyincreased
utilizationoftelemedicine.Removalofreimbursement,licensure,and
credentialingobstaclesisneededtorealizethefullbenefitthattelemedicinecan
haveforourpediatriccardiologypatients.
