CoronaryVeins
Thevenousreturnfromtheheartisforthemostpartcollectedbythemajor
cardiacveins,whichrunalongsidethecoronaryarteriesintheinterventricular
andatrioventriculargrooves.Thelargestvein,termedthegreatcardiacvein,
accompaniestheanteriorinterventricularartery,turningbeneaththeleftatrial
appendagetojointhecoronarysinus.Thejunctionbetweenveinandsinusisthe
pointofentranceoftheobliqueveinoftheleftatrium,ortheveinofMarshall,
whichusuallycorrespondswiththesiteofaprominentvenousvalve,thevalve
ofVieussens.Thecoronarysinusthenrunswithintheleftatrioventriculargroove
totherightatrium(Fig.2.35).

Asitenterstherightatrium,itcollectsthemiddlecardiacvein,which
accompaniestheinferiorinterventricularartery,andthesmallcardiacvein,
whichrunsintherightatrioventriculargroove.Furthersmallerveinsusually
drainintothesinusasitcourseswithintheleftatrioventriculargroove.When
thereisapersistentleftsuperiorcavalvein,itusuallydrainsintothecoronary
